I've searched, and most info pertains to coupes and roadsters.. - So I'm building a lo-boy Tudor, on as small a budget as possible. Running a basic SBC, and thinking about using GM 10 bolt rear end, 8.5 ring gear, and posi. don't need a bulletproof 9 inch, and have a hookup for basically free 10 bolts. so cost and availability wins. --- So my question is what width rear end am I looking for here? inner drum to drum measurements are my concern. And what is the rear body width of a tudor? quarter to quarter since this ol girls getting really low.. ---- I'll deal with the wheel offset after the body's on, I'll prolly just run some steelies for cost, and possibly a spacer if it's a little tight. thanks in advance, guys
I'm going to use one from an 89 Suburban. It's wider than the one that I have from a 70's Nova, by a noticable amount. I'd measure them but one of them is burried in a snowbank until spring.
Might be too skinny. I've got a 1978 Ford truck 9" under mine and it's 58" backing plate to backing plate. My sedan is channeled 6" and really low but this rear gives me 2.5" of clearance between the back of the tire and the body.
Body width on my tudor with a rough measure is about 57 outside to outside . Someone will come in on what they used to clear there body and rear end width used .
Yeah find the widest one you can and still may need spacers if its out of a car and you want the car to sit un-hamb-friendly low. Mine is out of a '79 Z-28.
I used a '78 camaro 10 bolt and I used reversed wheels with a little backspace as possible when I ordered them. They cleared fine with no spacers.
