Check out the 3 min. video I did and let me know what you think. It was made from 2 hours of old Minnesota drag racing footage from the late 50's, 60's and 70's. What is in this video is from the late 50's through the mid 60's. This is only a small segment of the footage I have which goes all the way to the late 70's. I was supposed to do a video for a guy for a MN drag racing reunion, well things kind of fell through and I've been sitting on this footage for well over a year and decided that I had to do something with it. As I was reading the HAMB one night I heard this Jeff Beck tune on the radio and Knew that was going to be the tune for my video. This footage is from Minnesota and Northstar dragways from the late 50's to the mid 60's. Here's the link: http://www.blackandbrew.com/movies/HotRodHoneymoon_med.mov Future plans are the break the 2 hours into 2 "1" hour videos, one from the early 50's to the mid 60's and the other from the mid 60's to the late 70's with narration and interviews. But who knows, maybe the guy will pay me for the work I've done so far and take the footage back. Let me know what you think. I still may tweek it some, but this is the main video.
Man, I've watched 2 seconds of this and I'm reaching for a cleanex. This is f**ing unreal. YOU HAVE TO RELEASE THIS MATERIAL! YOU HAVE TO MAKE THOSE MOVIES!!! THIS IS THE HOT ROD EQUIVILENT OF THE DEAD SEA SCROLLS! even if the guy pays and comes back for it... keep the original footage and release it! Danny
63 great stuff man.....ahhhhh the good ol days when car could smoke the tires out to half track and miraculously go straight AND NOBODY came to the tower and whined about the 60 foot times!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah, I remember as a kid about 1970 taking pictures of front engine dragsters out at Minnesota dragway. I only used about 10 or 15 minutes of the footage I have to put this one together. I'm going to work on another with some of the later 60's and early 70's stuff. There are some cool shots of early A/FX cars and some stuff with Tommy Ivo's front engine dragster and some old Z11 Impalas. There is even footage of cars racing 3 and 4 at a time in the slower stock classes. I really want to put together the two videos. A friend in our car club is friends with Doc Holiday and he said he could hook me up with a bunch of the guys who are racing on this footage. My plan would be to sit down with a few of these guys and have them start telling old stories of the early days and include that with the footage. I'm getting closer to getting this done, this was just the first step, we'll see.
[ QUOTE ] VERY cool... id like to see that footage in higher resolution [/ QUOTE ] I had to drop the resolution down to keep the size down, I don't have a ton of space on my server it's much better from the original on my computer, but remember that this is old 8mm footage to begin with.
Holy shit that was one of the coolest things I have ever seen. That shoulde be pinned to the top forever.

DAMN, I have a boner. This RULES. Dude, you need to add a "created by..." line at the end. Don't let it "float" around the internet without it! Put my name on the list to buy a copy or two when this is all finished!
