    Busy weekend in the shop,,,

This is the 33 chevy we are bringing back from the dead,,,

The top was so poorly filled and warped we removed the sheet steel and cut the hacked up tack strip out,,,

We then fabed up some 20 gauge angles and used the shrinker/strecher to get the right shape

Then just a matter of eyeballing and double checking and spot weldinging each piece ,,,,4 angle pieces around the opening,,, and 6 different angle pieces for the top,,,then we made a u channel to cap the inside,,for strength and a place to attach the interior headliner,,

    That's about it. HRP

Saturday picked up my last two projects. Unloaded outside on cinder blocks and pallets. Cleaned up all the other projects. Too make room. Sunday wife not talking to me due to more projects, hybernated in the shop with my son. Fella came over to look at parts for sale. Almost ready to put my sedans frame under my coupe.

Damn! A brave man! Most folks would say "this is my last project", but yours come in two's! (Bet you said "last" project two or three cars back! ;-) Yeah, I know, it's a sickness.

  5. Holy **** Skirv!

I ordered up a HST marathon from Netflix and watched it Friday night/Saturday AM, while I photoshopped some pics for Poor Boy brother Rooster, then headed over to the barn to get my transmission squared away in my Tudor... new pan, gasket, filter, make some spaces for the split wishbone/trans mount to help the caster a bit, hooked up a return spring for the brake pedal, made a oil pump primer, and a couple other little PITA things... dropped the engine back in last thing Sunday and I'll hook it all back up this week.

Pull rearend out and refab shackle brackets and ladder bars to move rearend back 1 inch after it was all done, I thought. At least didn't have to move crossmember too and it will make a big difference in the aestetics.

I hopped my happy *** onto a C130 and relocated from one location to another in this dump the silly Sunni and Shia's are fighting over. My *** was numb in no time flat.

On a good note, I few days before that, the MWR brought up a few camels from a local and we got to ride them by the PX. I also got to see ice cicles hanging down off the shower trailers in the middle of the desert, but didnt get a pic of that. Brrrrrrrrr! :)

I finished all but one of my door panels (ran out of board) and I re-bent some vent shades to fit my '55 Dodge.

I keep telling myself I need to do a little each week and it'll be done by spring. Keeps me sane when it's 9 degrees outside.

I installed Dynamat to all of the inner surfaces of my tudor (except the floor), got the "chicken wire" and canvas over the hole in the roof and started rewiring the whole rig (I stripped it clean before I sent it to the paint shop). Pretty good weekend, all things considered. Don't have pics today. I took some but left the camera in she garage

I fitted most of a front floor into the Cabriolet. Modified 2 Top hinges to fit as middle and lower hinges for the Driver side door, hung the door, finished off most of the metalising of the wood frame, fitted the adjustable seat frame, fitted the gas pedal, and a hand brake lever.

I decided to go with a white motor and accent it with the same color as the engine bay, and eventually, the rest of the car.

I used 10 gauge to make a new cover that bolts in, rather than fill all of the holes in it.

This picture came out bluury, and the camera ran out of batteries, but in case anyone is going to run a SBC in their 49-54, and use Ch***is engineering mounts, this shows how little must be removed from the rib. Starting even with the top of the fresh air vent, cut or contour an inch out and go down 8 inches. I cut too much and ended up welding in 10 gauge to build it back up. The drivers side you could get away with leaving alone.

Finished the 4 bar rear in my 50 Chevy and tested all of the air ride by hooking it up to the garage compressor.

Jumped in the car, drove 5 hours to Auckland, jumped in my mates ute, drove around Auckland at 7 at night looking for inlet manifold gasket (oval port) for simonsez bbc 32 tudor to get it running so he could go to Kumeu Swap meet (12 year build). Managed to get it running by 1.00am. Then up at 5am to be at Kumeu by 6, Gates opened at 7, Sold a bit of stuff. Left at 5pm, had a few brews, fell asleep. Got up the next morning and drove back to Hastings, Great weekend!!!:)
