Stripping chrome from a part???

    Short of sending the part to a chrome shop to have the chrome stripped, is there a safe way to chemically strip chrome from a brass part. I wnat to restore the item by the pick and file method before polishing and having it re-plated. Thickness of part is like sheet metal, about 16 gauge. Thanks experts, I am sure someone has the answer.

    no clue... but since you mention it... easy off takes anodizing right off...

    Thank you. I realized as soon as I hit the post button, I should have checked first. Thanks for the link, chemical stripping must be the only way. No need for further replies to this post.
