I'm kinda tired of all the "RULES" in life...especially when it comes to building something....This bike is done...and done cheap. I've always said..."It's not what you start with, it's what you end up with"....anybody can build a harley or a deuce coupe and I find that very boring....but...build something "on the cheap" and make it cool...THAT takes some creativity......so.....go find that four door mopar or junker japanese bike laying in your neighbors yard....and get building!!!

Damn, that's very nice!! I can't hardley tell a Harley apart from most stuff with out a "made by.." label anyway. I say ride it like you stole it and enjoy!! Especially for $400, I'm sure the goofballs at OCC would want more then that for you to walk in the door, and I like yours better then and stupid theme bike anyday.

This chick gives two thumbs up!

I got this SR400 for free last week from a friend of mine. I have plans for the Yamahammer. [IMG] Needs front forks eventually. These are a bit tweaked. Anyone happen to know if RD or XS forks will fit? I'm thinking red frame, dropped bars and either a chrome or silver painted tank. Either way I want a different tank. The stock one is too bulbous for the look I want. It may take a while to pull off, but at least it was free. It was having some kind of carb problem and wouldn't run. Hopefully some of my buddies who know more about these things than I do will be able to point me in the right direction.

burndup...it's a fifteen dollar swapmeet hd tire....and look harder and you will find the seats......

Django...these jap carbs need a THOROUGH cleaning...use spray gun and equipment cleaner from the paint supply place.

I was at Hatch's this noon for lunch. Walked in the shop door and this thing was just sitting there. Now I'm no bike guy, just know what I like when I see it. First impression, I wanted that sitting in my garage. Let all of you purest rip on it if you must but, bottom line, I can imagine having a ball riding it around and the bonus of not having your kids college fund tied up in it makes it all the more desireable.

I was given a free bike this summer for helping to build a fence. Mostly because it was in the way of the fence.....

It is an early 70's 450 zuk. I hope to be able to make a mini cafe bike from it - it fits the jap bike better than the bobber style.

Thanks for the post it makes me want to get out and work on it.

I'm damn sure on your side Hatch. I don't give a damn about the rules.
But I'm afraid that the MOPAR more door isn't going to be cheap to build. [IMG]
It kills me I see good building material going cheap all the time and lots of guys don't even have a project but it gets p***ed because it just isn't in Vogue.
I've always built with whatever I could lay my hands on, usually other peoples cast offs. Not always what was considered stylish, but always fast and fun.
Sometimes we miss it, hot rodding is like Woodstock, its all about being there maaaaan.
Of course don't take this for an excuse to get yourself a tuner just because you can get it on payments.

Definitely a cool bike. I was just given a free Kawasaki H1 triple two-stroke and extra motor. I've started cutting one of my spare GPZ frames to make a two stroke drag style bobber. So far I haven't spent a cent.

Great work. Bike look's good. If only more were inclined to to use their brain/creative matter and not just the wallet. More than the sum of it's part's, bike has visual appeal and balance. It need's nothing added. Hope the young one's get the inspiration to follow suit.

Slammed...thanks for the comments....I think we are on the same wavelength.... balance is the most important thing that some people overlook.

Who is tellin ya that Mopar is not cheap to build? I found a 76 Scamp 2 door that a friend and I are picking up for $200 running a /6 and auto. A little 318 is cheap, people give them away all the time and a lot of the interior can be found in good shape in junk yards still. I spent more on my Mustang then my 2 Mopars and I made back all the cash from one when I sold it. A-bodies are cheap. So are nice Desotos(want one of those one day). [IMG]

I blame this very post for my actions yesterday evening, my XS now has staright pipes...

My story for the cops will be "Well, TO ME it sounds like ANGELS are singing, how is it my problem if the neighbors dont agree?"

Yeah, I've been having difficulty locating more XS' too, had a lead on a guy who was selling 3 plus lotsa parts for a G asking, but he sounded psycho-retarded, called me from a payphone, said he lived in a school bus in a trailer park and needed to sell his hobby to stay afloat... Beleive me, a lot of work on my part to ***emble that from his rambling mutterings... I didnt feel like dealing with a psycho...

  26. Nice work hatch.........you certainly have the "midas" touch with those bike's you build up in Midland.......we need some action shot's of yourself riding that bad boy!! [IMG]

Tell the DMV that it's a home-built bike. In most states those are pretty easy to ***le.
