I've done a search without much luck.Mostly I have a problem with my newer,non-HAMB cars, but everything I try-Windex,alcohol,whatever,seems to leave bad streaks or film that show up worse in the sunshine. Anybody have a good one/? Ammonia?
I use Stoner Solutions -- http://www.invisibleglass.com/ -- I have never used the one in the plastic bottle but what is in the can works great with a couple of terry cloth towels... One to wipe the window after you spray it on, and the second one to polish it..
My old boss claimed that using newspaper to clean windows got rid of streaks and dust... took FOREVER to get the cleaner off the glass.
I've used newspaper for many years with great results. Steve www.pontiacheaven.org <DIR>Hosting 11th annual Pontiac Heaven, show, swap, drags, party and all around good time. Make sure to dilute the glass cleaner...even if ready to use....then use plenty of the diluted solution.
I have been in the window manufacturing business for 10 years and use windex and newspaper exclusively. Tried the other mixes listed above and always came back. It doesn't take a soaking of the glass, just a light spritz and wipe. Use the newsprint only, the slick ads don't absorbe the liquid.
X2 for invisible glass! I'm cheap, but I spend the $ on this. I use the plastic spray bottle and an old bath towel, works great!
I clean for a living and the best possible thing is newspaper ( only black and white parts, colour section will run and is bitch to rub off it stains ) and straight vinegar, also helps to kill the smell of smoke if you're a smoker.
well being a window cleaner i use dawn dish soap and water on new construction windows with blue surgical rags to clean up the little bit of water left behind for car glass is use the gm spray stuff and a blue surgical rag
I use Griot's glass cleaner with a CLEAN microfiber rag. Mothers and Adams work for me also, anything you try will streak if you use a dirty towel/rag.
NO paper towels. I am always successful using any cleaner, then a damp sponge, then a squeege (sp?). Second best for me is a terry towel for wiping. Are them blue surgicals the same as a micro-fiber? Frank
nope they are the ones doctors use for absorbing blood haha but they seell them at the window cleaning store around here
Sprayway is best. Find it at Walmart, Ace hardware. No Ammonia and can not hurt paint. Cost $2.50 a can. Smells great. Choice for picture framers. Takes the bird crap off paint easily safely. They make a bunch of Auto products. http://www.spraywayinc.com/
I use an even simpler method. It's roughly 3 parts tap water, 1 part ammonia. I use the nicer smelling non-name brand scented stuff. With paper towels I get squeeky clean, streak free windows. And you can't beat how cheap it is. And if you have a really greasy mess to clean, 50/50 water ammonia will clean it too. BUT be careful what you clean as ammonia is harsh and can damage some materials.
I'll second this. No need to dilute: spray a light mist of straight white vinegar, then wipe. It dries absolutely clear, and I personally like the smell. No idea what it does to a windshield with Rainex on it, though. (I'll let you know next time I wash my windshield on the outside!)
Another vote for Sprayway. I buy a few cans at a time. You can use it on more than glass. Havent find any other glass cleaner that comes close.
I also use Invisible Glass and a microfiber towel. Works great for me and is safe for windows with tint if you have it. (for the newer non HAMB cars the original poster mentioned)
Go to the dollar store and pick up a blackboard eraser. It works! Use no cleaning agents, just the eraser.
