Here are a couple pics of our 58 that will begin being torn down in a week or so. The first pic is obviously from a few months ago when she was sleepign out in the snow, and the other is one from a couple weeks ago. It's sitting behind the shop with all the left over 67-72 parts from my build up.

  3. That'll be a cool hauler!

Check out adapting a Camaro front clip to it... that'll get the thing SUPER LOW... and ride nicely!

    Do you weld and fabricate??

Yeah I weld. My father in law is a boilermaker/welder and has taught me all the tricks of the trade. It has a Nova clip welded into it already so it's nice and low and rides great already. Just needs a bit more welding done on the grafting. The previous owner did the weld in and I'm not comfortable with leaving it the way it is.
here is a pic of it

and the last pic I have of it is the engine. The front clip, engine, ******, drive line and rear end are all out of a 73 Nova that the PO had sitting around.

  7. Sweet, i love those trucks. Cant wait to see how it comes together..

  8. They did the graft wrong.

The way to do it is cut the outer sides of the Nova slip off.. and slide it into the channel of the '58 Frame.

You can still do it... and it'll instantly make it 4" lower and clean the under-side of the frame up and make it a little less bulky looking.

How far does it have to over lap inside the 58 frame if I cut the sides off? I want to do this properly so I feel better about the safety of this front end. Also, should it be welded in or should I drill and bolt it into place or both

  10. When we did my '56 we left the entire length of the Camaro clip in-tact. The Bottom edge of the camaro clip rested on the bottom edge of the Chevy pu C-channel. It was then welded on the top of the Camaro frame and the inside edge of the '56 Frame... then completely boxed. I wish I had pics... but it was done before digital cameras and the WWW... My good friend Steve, whom the truck belonged to at the time has gone on to do several more...

Anyone else done one and taken pics??

    Sam.
