called my rig a "rat rod"

I was at a local small car show this summer and when entering the show to get my windows sticker the gentlemen and his wife taking money said to me. "You go to the lonestarroundup" me:"Yep, drove this all the way there" him: "Honey, look he drove this old "RAT ROD" all the way to austin to that "RAT ROD" show I was telling you about. Most of the cars at this local show were owned by older men with too much money and little taste. Anyways 7 months later i still get pissed thinking about his comment. I wish more traditional rodders would have been there when he made this comment.

 

Was he talking about the Rat Rod in your avatar? Just kidding. I get the same thing when ever I talk to people. I am just happy that they talk about it at all. I think it's supposed to be a compliment but how is this 27 year old supposed to tell a 60 year old what it is.

 

Did you take the time to correct him??? a lotta guys my age and some younger don't know any better....its up to you and everyone drive a traditional car to change what some fool started.........JMO my favorite one liner to stop this is as I walk away I say" RatRods have big block chevies"...then watch their faces

 

I hate when they call my 39 a rat, I tell em its in progress and one day it will have paint.

 

With the whole "rat rod" craze going around, alot of people think that calling your car a rat rod is a compliment.I'm sure he didn't mean to insult you, he probably just didn't know any better. But if it still bothers you, then next time knock him down and piss in his ear! (that always makes me feel better)

exactly i was only 28 at the time and he was in his 50's. I believe he was the one putting on the car show. i saw severals cars there that were hidious. One being a 1990's model thunderbird with a 49 merc front end. I believe it won a prize.

 

I'm not going to get bent out of shape if it happens but if someone asks "are you going to rat it" or "Is that a Rat Rod" or "Nice rat rod!" I just politely say thanks, it's a Hot Rod though.

It seems like it's dying down though lately isn't it? Maybe I just have been hanging around a better crowd lately......no wait, someone asked me over the weekend. ****!
