Does anybody remember the shampoo truck? A buddy of mine owns it. It's been in storage now for years. He's going to show it unrestored in the suede palace at Sacramento this year. Correct me of I'm wrong but it was a 49 Ford convertible made into a pickup built by Joe Bailon and sold to the Betty Elizabeth Shampoo company in Oakland that sold shampoo to barber shops and beauty salons in the bay area. It was at Oakland in 56. The truck is in the ad in street rodder for the 60th anniversary of the GNRS on the right side. Does anybody else know anything on the history of this truck or have any good pictures? -Brodie
i LOVE that truck,,,,,,i heard it was found a little while back,,and even saw some pics (i think it was here on the hamb),,,,,,,,how did your friend end up with the truck?.....i know rickster has some pictures of it for SURE,,,hopefully, he'll see this and post some
that must have been incredible,,,,,,,,what are his plans for it?.... thats a great example of the skills of joe bailon (before the days he got all silly with the scoops and wierd bumpers,,hahah)....i think the shoebox (i think it had a victoria roof on it) and this car are my favorites of all his cars,,,,,,,,miss elegance was pretty damn cool too,,,,,
he originally wanted to restore it. It might be for sale. I don't know. You can talk to him about it at the show
Last thing i heard it was for sale. Geoff from the Journal went and looked at it, he called and asked me about it. Its in the Journal in the 1st few pages, not sure what issue it was,
