Ok, I've had this idea in my head for a while and have most the pieces to do it...but I still need some ideas... I have '30 or '31 Pontiac or a '26 Whippet, that I would like to turn into a roadster pickup, I think I will end up using the Whippet because there is more there, but that's not the problem...The problem is I want it to be rear engined...I was planning on using a 500 Cad with the 425 trans axle...but I'm thinking about using a 223 Ford six with the 425 instead...main reason being I have the six, it's a little tamer, and for some reason in my mind it would be pretty sweet. But my question is are there any problems I may run into with this combo? I know the oil pan won't clear the axle it will have to be notched and reworked...but what else? The second is How do I go about setting up the suspension on it? Any ideas...The Eldos and Toronados both had strut bars that crossed the top of the engine, which I can build a nice looking strut bar but are there other options? The other problem is that they used torsion bars..Is there another option there? any ideas? I want to go for a show rod feel on it...I know with the 70s era trans it doesn't fit but that's just a minor set back. I want to kind of go crazy with it and still be able to go out and womp on it. So just shoot me some ideas, I appreciate all your input.

Oh I almost forgot how about some pictures of other rear engined rods? (No Volks Rods....sorry)

    Thanks,
    Bobby

There used to be a company called Mid-Engineering that built kit car ch***is with the Toro transaxle. Owned by Bill Porterfield. They sold blueprints as well; poke around on the Net and you might find someone who can hook you up with a set. Alternatively, interest in a lot of the old kits like Kelmark and Fiberfab that used this setup is coming back. Maybe you can find some help with those people.
