Does your car have it's own..... smell?

My '29 ford had a huge mouse nest in the gas tank,just reeked when I cut the bottom out of it.Smelled like a hamster cage,you can still kinda smell it 3 years later!

 

I'm with youy KERRY . I love to stick my noggin inside the oldies and take a whiff it always smells sooooo good !!! I saved a large piece of the headliner out of my 36 just so I could take a sniff of it from time to time,I'm sorry i replaced the interior with new stuff now. I do believe that 60's gm cars have about the best smell going , I dont know where it comes from but it sure brings back some real good memories. Mike.

 

My kids literally grew up going to rod runs in my 40. My youngest is now 21 and when ever they get in the car they still say it has "that 40 smell". I'm not sure what that is, but it definitly has one!!

 

My old '38 Poncho '36 Chevy and '36 Olds all smell like pot and mouse ****/piss. All the cars we are getting off this old farm are parked in a giant field of 10 foot marijuana plants.

 

It smells like mouse piss and not Satan's Lettuce ???

Oh no there is a distinct odor of Canabis Sativa...and A striking after tone of Mus musculus urine. That's scientific for it smells like pot and piss. but pot before the piss.

 

Yep the car smells like blowby and the steering wheel stinks. The truck doesn't really have a smell, funny.

 

Yes, narrowed it down to the stuff I used to mix with the fuel in tank. Seems to get into the interior and never leave.

My 59 has a stink that makes me want to be around it. All the fluids mixed. Power steering, trans, oil, gas, exhaust, brake, old interior all mixed together. Its adicitive. Kinda like snifin glue! Contact high. As my signature says below ....

 

Oil, gas, etc.

But also car ingredients: jute from old seat interiors, old rubber floor mats (or residue thereof), decaying headliner fabric, OLD grease (the kind they don't sell anymore).

Car fixing smells: Welding, burnt paint. Mouse turds. Mix together, mixture varies with heat and ventilation.

Driver/p***enger smells: food, Lucky Strikes, beer, sweat, etc. Most spills mostly cleaned but not in some corners...

THATS the old car smell.

 

That sounds familiar. Add in a little 90 weight gear oil and you have it! pigpen

My garage floor sometimes looks and smells like this! Disgusting!

80/90wt gear oil... Thanks to a tipped over 4 speed in the trunk... The smell has been there for 2 years... I kinda like it....

That seems like a trend. I always hear of spilling oil in the trunk.

 

Was just thinking that.
I had an old 67 coronet gramps gave me when I was 12 He went through a chain of old plymouth furys.
I'd sit in the 67 for hours. Smelled like mopar especially when it had been shut up a while. Must have been something in the plastic...and the trunk smelled like catfish bait and plastic worms in all his rides

 

If the car is standing still it usually smells like pledge but if it's on the road it smells like exhaust. Perhaps my exhaust needs a redesign as it seems to dump about half of it right in my face. It will keep you toasty on a chilly morning though.
