Some how I missed this one. Very nice fab work. I will be using some of these ideas on my own. Keep the progress coming.
Thanks 35! That is how I did it. Used other people's ideas, and changed what I needed to match my tools and skills... and build Jason, I'll bet you hated seeing that poly covered in an old tee shirt...LOL
Hey, if soft cotton is good enough to clean eyeglasses with, and it's what those bags that jewelers store loose diamonds in are made of, It's fine with me... you can wrap that Poly in it! ~Jason
WOW JAY! You're going really fancy with this one! Love the cowl steering! Awesome! Keep it up. Only 3 more months until that drive down Congress!!
I did not know Cowl steering was "fancy"... LOL... I just alway thought it was cool. If guys like Dreadman keep posting techs and how to's, I'll stick with fancy. The funny part was how long it took me to figure out how to make it all fit. Everytime I thought I had it, then something else would not fit or work. "Did it come an instruction manual when you bought it?" a neighbor asked...
I've a bunch of little stuff... But nothing cool enough to post yet. Yesterday I went to a shop to have my Pitman are and steering extendo shaft made... Thank you to BIG DAD for introducing me to Greg! Again... He has everything to make anything out of metal. And a cool, easy going guy with some skills... No need for me to explane this one, it is a direct copy of the How-To's on here... I do not TIG weld, so don't start thinking that my skills improved over night. These welds are Greg's. He claimes to be "fair" at welding. Hummm... I'm just glad I paid him to do these... I forgot to take a picture of the finished product... I'll take a few more today and get'em up... Greg spun it to grind down the welds... Dreadman told me to "over-build" the steering frame, so I spent a little time adding strength to it and the floor where it will mount. again, no pics yet, but I'll get 'em today. I bought a bead roller and shrinker/stretcher on Craigslist yesterday... I am going to play around and see if I can build the firewall insert today.
Yes he did!!! He was hard set on $375 and would not budge... I showed up a second time with $300 cash, said it was all I had (cuz it was ) Thing weighs 40+ lbs... I guess that makes it sturdy... Now I just need to practice. Thanks for the help and info on the roller.
Made the Radiator mount. Got it all all done. Shocks are mounted! Thanks Vaphead for the parts! Not sure I like the fronts, may make an adjustment... Today I'm planning to get the fire wall welded in place. Body mounts are 90% done. I've added beef to the front body mount where the steering frame attaches as per the advice of Dreadman. (Over build that area) I'm on the fence about getting done in time for LSR. I talk myself out of it, then kick myself back into gear... Some on keep me focused....
Rusty, I will not be making LSR this year... I'm not even going... My 2 boys are in Boy Scouts and they have a big camp out that same weekend that I help with. I choose them... In the long run that mattered more to me... My new goal is The Them Invasion in Sept... I'll do the cooking.... It is a mid 60's ('66) Mopar box. No reverse needed... Thanks for the words! Sorry Elrod, Not making it... I WILL make the Invasion!!!
