I need to polish some eyebrow trim from a 60's chevy but it has some kind of clear coat on it, not much luck with acatone on a green scrub pad?
that is actually plating on that trim.it will have to be chemically stripped or sanded off.sand blasting maybe.
If it's anodized- that means its probably made of something that will corrode or dull fairly quickly, not long after it's stripped.
You can polish the anodizing off with compounds and buffs using a bench grinder. With cloth buffs of course, not a grinding wheel. I found this out by trying to polish anodized trim. It comes off, and is nice and shiny underneath. It does not have the smooth look of a chromed part. Its all wavy looking when the light hits it. To me it pretty much ruins the part.
