So I did an all night thrash and got the frame and suspension painted and re***embled..The green is a dark green that almost looks black in the shade and in the shop until the light hits it. Also painted the engine the ******. Today I'm putting the motor back in. I got the gold color idea from Sloppysecond's build

Sorry for the bad pics..It was dark and I was a little lit on paint fumes..hehe

    Looking good there Jerry.

I'm really happy to see a color on the engine, instead of the new fad of black painted engines. :D

Before you drop that back in the frame, check the throttle cable where it goes into the case, I think there is a a hook/link there it has to grab? I just shoved it in the hole to stop the oil from coming out.

Dropped the motor and ****** back in this afternoon, opened the shop door for some sunlight and took some better pics. It's really nice putting everything back together painted. I almost can't believe it's come this far. Need to get a driveshaft and new 32 tank...but I think I'm gonna let that wait a little. I'm gonna do a little more body work next.

Also have a set of 40 for steelies coming tomorrow that I'm swapping for the wires.

Check out the before pic of the motor, hardly looks the same

Tonight I stripped my 80 year old bench seat so I could give it to the upholstery guy who lives around the corner. ( nice having some good people close by) I'm not quite ready to have this done ..but he is backlogged with projects and told me that if I wanted it done..now's the time. He is cheap and does great work.

You wouldn't believe the disgusting filth that was trapped in the old cushioning and material. I almost got sick a couple of times. Here are some pics of the lower cushion frame and the main ***embly after getting all the old **** out of the springs. The seat is going to be a golding tan tuck and roll which should look slick with the green body (when painted). I had fitted the seat frame to the floor awile back so it should go in nice when it's time.

Sanded the metal arms of the seat frame and painted them to match the upholstery material. You don't see any of the inside when the cushion is in so I didn't get nuts with it.

Got my 40 ford steelies, one set painted with old bias plys and the other blasted. I put the painted set on the front so I could get an idea of the look. Need some hubcaps and new rubber all around next after painting the rear ones.

Painted the 40 ford steering wheel and column too after cleaning it up

nah..went with the steelies. They go better with the late 50's style build that I'm trying to pull off..I also didn't feel like paying another $250 for adapters to get the wires to work. No thanks ;)

Picked up some original 42 hubcaps that are in terrific shape that I'm gonna use

  22. Damn Jerry, the car is looking great. I love the color combo. Sorry I haven't been on to make any comments of late. I don't know if you settled on rear lamps yet, but I have a set of Lucas lights that are like mini-Pontiac lamps and might fit the rear of the smaller 30 car better. I have seen them on some cars but not too many. Anyway, if you want them they are yours, Just let me know.

I got a little more done this weekend. I want to try to get the body ready for paint in the next couple of weeks. This weekend's project was to weld all the holes shut on the firewall that I won't be needing, paint it, and put the body back on the frame.

I also moved the radiator support rod brackets over about 3/4 of an inch on the firewall. In the stock location, the support rods when installed hit the sides of my carb scoops. I decided to weld the original holes shut, move things over, and drill some new bracket mounting holes. Since I had the welder fired up I also put a finish weld on the back corners where the body was sectioned and welded a few other things up while I was at it.

There's not too much more body work to do..just little stuff. I decided the rest could be done with the body back on the frame and since the firewall was now painted I put it back on. The worst is the p***enger side door... lots of bad dents. I'll just have to mask everything off good when I spray the body.

Here's a couple of pics of the white firewall after dropping the body back on with the support brackets installed in their new location. The white blotches on the right side is the flash from the camera.

The body will be dark green like the frame eventually
