I want to generate traffic to my pre-1974 rods and customs classifieds website so I plan on doing a few giveaways for registered members and I need some ideas. Any help is appreciated.

In the 70's my aunt had a giant wooden fork & spoon hanging on the walls of her dining room.

It would be super cool to get a set of 5ft tall wooden spoons.

A former HAMB member said he was going to raffle off a roadster body on his new website. A person was going to get one chance at the body for each product you placed on his site for auction. Guess what....never gave away the roadster body. His name is mudd around here for a varity of reasons. Just make sure you do what you say you are going to do....follow thru with your statements and promises.

Who has, or parents have, those giant folks and spoons?

They hung in my folks kitchen thru the late 60's and 70's. I think my Dad brought them back from the Phillipines.

Great responses/advice guys and gals. I appreciate it. The site is for motorheads by motorheads. You can browse without signing up. That shit aggravates me too. The site isn't quite ready yet, but goes live Feb 1st 09. It's FREE to register and for a limited time, you can post your stuff for FREE. I don't have my hopes up but I sure would like to see folks use it. The prices some classified sites charge is fucking ridiculous.

OK, a cool shirt, giant ass spoons and forks, a virgin, a 32 Ford. These are great, keep'em coming and thanks.

Just wanted to say I am not trying to take anything away from the HAMB Classifieds because they do RULE! I figure if you have something to sell, the bigger your audience, the better your chances. That's all.

Back to my thread. What about parts? Memberships? Tell me what you think.

No, giant spoons, and no one is going to give theirs away now that they know how valuable they really are, and that's a real bummer too, I was just getting ready to pull out the giant bamboo bowl set and get some ice cream going.:(

Those giant spoons are overrated. Sure, you can fit a lot in there, but where do you find the giant lighter and the giant hypodermic needle to match?

As for giveaway stuff, make it free for the first 100 or so sellers you get on there. You'll have a tough time bringing in new paying sellers if there are only a handful of other users when they first check it out.

If you want giveaways to attract buyers, make up some coupons for $20 or $50 toward any purchase of any item on the site. That'll encourage buyers not just to check out the site, but to actually buy something.
