burried the spedo on my 396 Chevelle so who knows, but got 138 on a police cruiser purchased at an auction.
I had a '70 Nova SS 350, I don't know how fast we were going, but went from Columbia, Pa to Ephrata, Pa. in under 15 Min. one nite in '75. After that episode, I sold the car 'cause I KNEW I'd kill somebody if I kept it. Oh, I did win a sizeable wager on that trip.
my dad was a highway patrolman...had a 1961 ford police interceptor with a 390 cu and a three speed o.d...calibrated speedometer....sneaked it out one night when he was out of town.....149....only problem was i didn't reset the speed clock on it.....he busted my ass when he got back to town and saw the clock.....that was a hauling ass ford....it had more, i was scared chitless.....what i would do for that ride again....woohoo.... then my son bought a new '99 ram air ws/6....we were going to austin and caught a long slope off a hill and pegged the needle at 160 and it was still pulling.....once was enough.... speed kills, but you only get to go fast once or twice. got mine.... I've been to 180 riding shotgun in an original GT-40 race car at Road America during a touring session. I think I was 16 or 17 at the time. I do belive this experiance may have spoiled me for life. Josh
I'd say around a buck-25 on my '93 Suzuki GSXR 750. Thought i was gonna die on that thing. Wanted to see how much speed i could handle on it right before i sold it. That was about it. Brian
Me driving - about 155 MPH in my Opel GT with the built 3.8 Buick over the Hoan Bridge in Milwaukee - about 1990. The speedometer pegged and the car started catching air and almost lost it. The car was not meant to go that fast. A friend driving his supercharged 928 - 172 per the GPS on a section of 4-lane where there is no place for a trooper to sit for about 4 miles.
140 in a 1970 Firebird with a 455. This is on a crappy backwoods tar road. I'm glad to still be alive...
158 in a subaru and wraped the needle around past 85 and back to 70 in a 383 powered 85 firebird guesing 165 ish
165mph on I94 in a 754rwhp OT turbo car. 9.4@144mph at Great Lakes Dragway in that OT turbo car. Heck I've been 140 in my daily driver 06 Trailblazer SS. 140mph in my old 2002 Z06. 10.0@133 on my old 2000 OT nitrous/heads/cam Camaro.
Buried the speedo at 115 on a 1976 GMC 1500 with a 350 4 barrel carb driving on the plains in South Dakota. Hit a crest in the road and thought I was going airborne, on second thought probably did. God I miss that truck!
In my 68 Charger on HWY 178 to Pahrump had it to 130. Way fun. Kinda made my butt pucker The fastest I have ever been was just recently at a ride along in a NASCAR car. The driver said we were doing about 170 and we were on the freakin wall.
!!! When in U.K I have never ever exeeded the speed limits, it's scary enough to be on the wrong side of the road. And my taxidriver might loose his licence
60 65 mph in my model a 125ish in my 68 chevy truck 427 bigblock 180ish on my 99 hyabusa when stock built the motor in the bike had 200 hp at the wheel never did a speed run after new more. but going to work was allways fun 140 150 allmost every time I rode it. Sold it to buy my 31 model a
155 mph in my 06 srt-8 magnum just last summer on a new freeway in pa that was not open yet and still had more left but had to slow cause freeway was ending.
I had a '71 Demon 340, if you ran it right at 150 on the speedo and then matted the throttle it would pull pretty good so maybe 160, 165? My B/Altered ran about 150 in the 1/4. BB/FC about 195 - but I guess those 727s I flew in cruised about 650 or so. Yea, probably 650 was the fastest.
My brother had a '68 Cougar with a healthy 351W and he took it to "about 140" with me riding shorgun (no seatbelts anywhere in the car) just to prove it. That was the fastest in a car. As far as fastest overall, I had a 1200cc Yamaha that went 160-something. It say something because (A) it was as indicated by the speedo, which wasn't likely accurate and (B) it was at 2 o'clock in the AM and I had a hard time reading the speedo and praying at the same time...
145mph in my 1994 Mazda Miata in between Santa Fe N.M. and Albuquerque. 75 hp NOS going down a very long steep hill in front of that casino with the dirt track
2000 WS6 Trans Am with a few mods. The speedo is ony marked to 155 but the needle was about a 5mph space past that. My eyes were definitely glued to the road, rt 81 headed north in Va in Warren County.
about 120 in my brothers 85 buick grand national. i once had my 78 chevy van with a 4 bbl 327 up to about 100 passing a dually on a bridge(i knew this because the gearing made the speedometer only show 8 mph for every 10 mph.
Me, my best friend and my '66 Falcon set up for road racing (SCCA) on a lonely stretch of road in Kansas in the middle of the afternoon. We were clocked at over 140mph by a state trooper and didnt even get a citation. He caught up to us when we decided to stop for a pee break and he recognized the car and turned around to talk to us. All he wanted to know is what the hell was in that thing!
