I'm puttin my 28' rpu aside and am currently working on my newly aqcuired 34' tudor. It's getting a 241" hemi 5spd. quickie.... I like my cars to sit right which is really really low. I'd like to see how low before my tires have to be outside of the wheel well which isn't too appealing to me. And I'm choosing not to raise the wheel well up higher on the body. I should also add that it will be fender/hoodless also. Any input greatly appreciated.
Kirk, let me try to figure this out. You are planning on running fenders, right? And you don't want your wheels to stick outside the fenders and you don't want to cut the fenders by radiusing them?
Back up top to help a buddy out. He is looking to build a heavily channeled 33-34 w/o fenders, and would like to see pics. His concern is the wheel opening built into the body itself, he wants to make sure the look wont be too odd.
33-34 sedans were very popular as channeled fenderless rods here in New Zealand back in the early 60s. They look very cool.
This is all I got for 2dr Sedans. Doc.'s 33 Sedan is probably the best example, but only good 3/4 shot I have of it is the one below with the guide coat. The red one is not channeled at all, but has a great chop.
Don't ever heavily channel a 33-34 Tudor without raising the wheel wells, it will always be a dorkmobile unless you do.
Here some pic's of my '34 sedan built by Walker's Landspeed and Custom out of Lewisburg, Ohio. It's angle channeled appoximately 6" in the front and roughly 4" in the back. The rear wheel wells are in the stock location. Running 32" tall tires in the back made it necessary to put some rubber spacers in the rear for tire clearance. The link is to build pic's. The only pic's I have of a side profile are during construction. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=222405
Beatnik, thanks for posting pics of my heap. The rear of the car is in the stock location, and the front is channeled 4 inches. This brings the lower edge of the body to the bottom of the frame. The uneven channel gives it a little rake, and it saves some headroom too. The chop is two inches. Hope that helps. Doc.
Damn!, I've LOVED this '34 since the first time I saw in a magazine. In my opinion this the FINEST '34 Sedan to date! The proportions are spot-on, the colour everybloodything! Nick.
