Hi All, I've started my first resto in over 25 years. Its a 66 Chevy C-10 P/U. I've already made good progress but still have ways to go. I've been reading posts on the H.A.M.B for a month or so now, really impressed with the knowledge y'all have and more impressed with everyone's willingness to share it.... Quick Question: Does anyone know where the back-up light switch is on a 66 C-10 with a 3 Speed manual (I believe a Muncie) ******? Thanks....
Welcome from Turkey Heaven Alabama. Don't know about the backup light switch but if it were me, I would lay under the truck and trace the wire from the light back to the end. I'd say its a coin toss between the column and linkage at the transmission.
Thank you ALL, I will trace the wires and see where it leads me...Will post what I find out...Appreciate the warm welcome ...
Just in case anyone is interested I found the backup light switch on my 66 C-10. It turns out if its a stock 3 on the tree with a 6 cyl., the switch is mounted on the lower end of the steering column 2-3 ' above where the column goes through the firewall... Thanks again for the warm welcome....
While chasing wiring is not the most fun you can have, it is satisfying when you actually find what you are looking for. Congrats.
welcome from Maryland ! When I lived in Woodlawn ( east birmingham ), the people who " lived over the mountain " were the rich people...can I borrow some money ?
HotRod Mad, Lookin' at the list of your cars, not sure if I shouldn't be the one asking., BTW my mother in law went to school in woodlawn back in the day and I grew up in southside....
Welcome from Huntsville. Many many years ago {{{{almost 50}}}}I lived in a suburb of Pratt city called Crumley Chapel. It was nice then but I think all HAMB materal has left birmingham for safer neighbor hoods. bobby..
What are you running in the 66? What are you going to do with it? Looks like you are starting with a pretty clean truck.
I am keeping the 250 l6., I have a pretty fast car and a bike with a stage 3 Screaming Eagle Engine kit so not interested in making the truck fast, just want to cruise and pull the bike trailer... only has 87K miles on it, just went over the basics, new plugs, wires, distributer cap, ****on, hoses, belt etc... Of course I already took all the body panels off and in the process of a complete re-paint and color change..Its getting a new flat black paint job, but interior and the engine bay is semi-gloss.... here are some before and after pics of the engine bay, still need to do some detailing and install more decals on radiator, washer fluid bottle, breather etc....
Thanks T-Time., you are gonna have to show me where all the swap meets etc are these days, been away for over a decade just got back home....
Geoffav, Thanks..Used to live in LA myself, long long time ago. Went to school in Troy for a couple of years over 25 years ago...
It's still there and the same teacher/professor is probably still there too. I'm not even from this area but because my wife had a great job here when I retired from the military we stayed in the area.
Pretty good swapmeet this weekend at the Fairgrounds. The weekly cruise-ins will be getting started in just a few weeks.
