Projects 1951 merc meteor

i'm tryin to find a manufacter or dealer anywhere in canada or the US. I'm lookin for bodypanels and other OE equipment.I'm restoring a 51 mercury meteor(canadian edition) it's got the flat head V8 with the 3 spd w/ OD.

 

hello, I think Cross canada sell Replacement panels for these..
But I also think you can find better.. the aftermarket cross canada panels are cheap.. and are only good for doing half the job..

Is Yours a Two Door or ?? .. what area of Canada you at??

cross canada can only get rockers. i need a trunk lid and emblem and floor boards,and a tranny and motor rebuild kits. it's a 2 dr. the body is mostly sound except the floor. the motors not seized i was happy about that. Weird thing is that i cant even find any pics of a 51 merc meteor.

 

O and i'm in Alberta

 

arent they like a shoebox with a different grille? or am i thinking out my ass

yea pretty much. there like the merc montclaim. but 51 was a 1 yr deal on the grill

I have some spare emblems for trunk lids,do you know if its the same as a 50?
I know a 49 is completely different.I know a guy in Red Deer that might be able to help you out.

 

George Moir ford parts. I think they're in calgary. Don't have a website but advertises all the time in the Old Car Trader. You could PM Fordnutz on here too. He might have some stuff tucked away in his stash.

it`s either a meteor (same as a ford) or a monarch (same as a mercury.there is no such thing as a 51 mercury meteor.

 

The Meteor is a Canadian Ford but sold by Mercury. The Canadian Mercury is called a Monarch. So 49-51 Ford is the basis for the Meteor and Mercury is the basis for the Monark.

 

thanks about the george moir lead. i'm checkin him out now

 

i'll have to chech if there is any peices of the original emblem in the car. but i think that becuase its a canadian car the emblems are different. and i did find out that the 51 front end is unique with the double bullet style. i'll try and make it out to the car and take sum pics.
