Art & Inspiration Warbird Nose Art

I know I've see a few ****tered pictures, but I did a search and did not find a spot where nose art was compiled into one place. Hopefully this will take off. Here's a couple to get things started.

 

That is pretty cool. I once met a WASP pilot when I worked in a book store. She must have been about 80 years young. Pretty cool though with all kinds of cool war stories.

 

There's a book called "Nose Art" that features alot of the art on the planes from WWII. I've got it because my grandfather's b-17 is in it. We bought it for him years ago at the boeing flight museum, but I ended up with it after he died.

 

Being an Air Force brat, I've always liked airplane nose art. Here's one of my favorite websites:

I lived three doors down from a Tuskegee Airman until he p***ed a little over a year ago. Very good stories. I learned later that he was one of less than a hundred left from the WWII era.

i picked up a book awhile back called "vintage aircraft nose art". it's a little over 200 pages long and also features some cool bomber jacket artwork. the author's name is gary m. valant....definitely worth checking out

 

actually the ***le is "Cl***ic Vintage Nose Art"
(isbn # 0-681-22744-3).
It contains U.S. Military Aircraft in WWII and Korea.

 

Another book called "For The Boys" by Collins has all pin-ups with a lot of nose art. I think part of the reason chopped split front window 40's & 50's cars look cool is that they remind me of old bombers, B-17, B25 etc.

The Lancaster that bore the name "Lets have another" used the pint gl*** as a mission marker, every succesfull run the added on another pint. The navigator from that 'heavy' is a man from my home town.
