went to a mates BBQ last week to check out his new roadster. Most are imported from the US
    It's a gl*** 34 - very nice

Here's a shot along with a couple of the other cars there

When you say 'most' are imported, which ones? I only see 2 possibilities - the Poncho (probably Canadian Chev redo) and the 'bird?

Good to see another Y-Block powered hot rod out there.

I doubt most Americans would realise what an icon it was to early Australian hot rodding.

    thanks for the pictures

who put the turd wheels on that pontiac? Any higher and we could call it a donk

  8. Can you enlighten us on the front hubs on the '27 roadster? Can't say I've ever seen such a large piece, almost looks like a 4 wheel drive component.

Very nice rides! I do have to agree that I hate the wheels on that Pontiac, but it's not my car and not my money being spent on it. Oh, and all the steering wheels are on the wrong side. You might want to fix that before someone gets hurt. ;) I'm also wondering about those hubs. Very odd. Is there a fender law down there? I'm guessing so with all the fendered rods.

Rich, I think what you're seeing is part of the rotor hat -disc brakes. The owner is a custom wheel etc. manufacturer. His daughter raced T/F in the US some years back. First woman 300+ from memory.

Nice cars.....awesome black roadster in particular!

What do you guys do about the Funnel Spiders?! Holy ****, those things are bad news!
I think I saw something about them on Discovery.......eeeeeyuch!

  23. We train them up as pets and give em to the kids to ride to school. Crocodiles were just too slow.:D
Yes we have fender laws and they are actively policed! We are a huge target with the cops, they still think all Hot Rodders are hoons out to run old men and women down. Too bad the vast majority of rodders are old men and women!

i killed a family of funnel web spiders just 2 days ago.

  25. That,s what i was thinking. Still it,s a much better pic of a sloper than most pics i,ve seen over the years.

Those hubs on the 27 Roadster were made by the owners business, Dragway Engineering, as were the wheels. The calipers are 6 spot units also made by Dragway. There is also a set on the Halibrand quick change full floating rear axle. Ian has these brakes available for anyone wanting a modern efficient brake system. As I understand it, they can custom fit/machine them for almost any application. X18 is correct in that much of the rear section has been hand made as it was easier than trying to repair the originals.

I disagree Doc, it has not been my experience or that of anyone I know to be a target of cops.

Re. funnelwebs, I've killed the odd one in the back yard. Seen way more funnels than actual spiders. Redbacks on the other hand are much more common and easier to find/squish.

i really like the look of those fenders on this.

  29. You guys really build some quality cars there.

I would guess the Scrutineer - correct term? - checks the full fendered cars over as close as the (almost) fenderless ones.

Good looking hub (covers?) on the 27 and I like the fender attach devices.
If you gotta have it, may as well flaunt it....
