Im not trying to tell anyone how to run anything, but some people need some tact when posting, I might be new to this site and need to learn how you guys do things around here, and in no way do I take anything on the internet serious, but others do and it makes for an uncomfortible atmosphere when guys come across as jholes for the sake of being down. im sure we are all grown men and women and I doubt anyone would talk to the OP's face the same way they post behind a screen
Ask yourself if your car looks like it was built after circa 1967. If it does - ie eighties style billet, or for example obvious modern content like TPi, or pastel paint - then it probably isn´t what this site is all about. Hope that helps clear things up. Nice car BTW. I love a Bullet nose.
You are correct. You are new to this site and need to learn how we do things around here. When car shows enforce a cut-off year or a certain style of car and they turn cars away at the gate, its the same thing. The car doesn't fit. You're more than welcome to come in, but leave the car in the lot.
Partial as I am to Studes...I gotta say your Stude is spot on...but..."traditional" means no low profile tires, no billet wheels, no B & M blower ... To answer your concerns...this site is about cars, trucks, hot rods built in an older style (pre 64) if you'd read the "rules" ...yeah, we get the rat rod crew here too...and a lot of them don't stay around much after getting berated too... And yes, what you put on your Stude DOES make it less traditional...now if you'd had some whitewalls and hubcaps, or even some chrome rims and moons, it would look traditional...from what I see, it IS worthy of recognition by the "old builders"...it does look like you've put a ton of work into it...and by taking it on "tours" this year, you will, in all probability, get that recognition. As for being told they weren't welcome...to that I can only say, the internet and message boards aren't THAT old... Stick around, learn how things go around here...you are welcome here...even if the particular car you built isn't... Trad black doesn't mean much...however, I certainly like the color on it now... R-
I'm guessing Bad Bob would say the samething to your face as he says on here. HAHAHAHA. Once again if you hang around for awhile and get to know what people are like before you jump in head first you would understand the subtleties of how different members post and not take offence to it.
I know Bob, I see him just about every week end, and he will say what he says here to your face. He is not trying to provoke anyone. He just tells it like he sees it. There have been so many off topic threads lately, I find it hard to find anything interesting on the first few pages of the site. I think that is what Bob and the people like that are trying to limit. Anyway, Here are a couple pictures of a Stude that I scaned from the Dragwagon's club photo album. Circa 1958 / 59.
I suppose my car would have fit in 7 yrs. ago, but that's when plans changed. I originally just wanted a simple everyday resto-rod, nothing fancy, chromies & moons, belly button SBC, something reliable and look decent too. As liife would have it, my wife of 14 yrs. passed away suddenly leaving me to raise 2 young pre-teen boys. I think the decision to build a full blown custom, came out of necessity to occupy my mind with other thoughts and later I became determined to finish it to honor her life. I did not want it to become a forgotten project you hear so much about. So be it, come what may, it's a done deal. I'm not getting any younger, so I'm looking to build something a little less challenging next, I guess I'll build a traditional car.
I'm a FNG, but I gotta say that's an unnecessary and un-called-for swipe. There's plenty of people around here who are getting plenty challenged by their builds.
As I mentioned before I take no offence to what is said, because another mans opinion is just that. What im speaking on is common courtesy but I guess having to explain that pretty much sums up where a few sit. yes Im new here so I wont put my nose in where it doesnt belong, because isnt it much more enjoyable when everyone lurks for the fear of the Internet tough guys who flex their keyboard every chance they get
Common courtesy could also be described as not posting pictures about something that doesn't fit the message board you are on. I actually don't have a computer, or even a keyboard. (It's a laptop, so it all comes in one package and its tough to flex.) I share my girlfriends computer, so technically I'm flexing her muscles. And yes, I'm just as sarcastic and "rude" in person as I am on the interweb.
