t stat byp*** tube sounds kinda like what it would be. where can I locate one of these? so far all the reasons for keeping the y block sound good to me. try find parts for a pontiac slant 4 cylinder, or a packard inline 8 without having to special order. I have lost half the hair on my head from stress and pulling it out.
so for the fun of it I threw in a battery and a little gas in the carb. with a few cranks of the starter my $500.00 purchase made it my 1st car that I actually got a good deal on and not burned by the seller. it actually did start, just like the guy said who I bought it from. I am super excited but I am now broke so I can't buy the fan or belts right now.
Here are some pictures of my '61 800 2D HT. I bought this car in Indiana last July from a HAMB member. It is now in Oklahoma waiting to be transported to it's new home here in New Zealand along with it's '62 Fairlane 500 Sports Coupe cousin.
