You really are not understanding my point. You did not build your car. You bolted a few things on it. There is nothing special about a car you can build in a day with a few grand in mail order parts. If you want to go fast, then just buy a street bike. IT's not just about going fast. It's more about skills and custom made components and true craftsmanship in "my opinion", but again that is all I am offering here is my opinion. If you want to drive a fast late model car then be my guest, but just don't act like you are the beez neez when your car came off a shelf.

  2. I like it all. I just sold my OT '98 Formula (9.4@144, 10.0@138 on pump), my OT '00 Camaro Z/28 (10.0@133 150 shot, 10.9 on motor and pump), and now have a '51 Merc, have a 2010 Camaro on order, and am looking for a musclecar to stuff a gen IV LS3 into to try to run 9's on motor.

I'll give the dead horse one last kick before dropping out

So because late model guys work on "****" they don't deserve praise, even though you like praise for your work. Hmmm. That's interesting.

Even more interesting is that you think your finished cars are only good for letting others drool over. That is so uncompletely what hot rodding is about, especially with late models. However it falls in line with the purse definition outlined earlier.

You're on the right track and might get it someday. But are trying too hard to fit into a ******** scene that only exists in your mind. Focus on doing what you love, and you might gain respect for others doing the same.

Purse toting scenesters are killing traditional rodding.

Ya know, it WAS just about going fast in the early days of hotrodding......and it was also just guys bolting on parts too, as most didn't have the skills to fabricate until after WWII....but they could swap parts from other rigs.
Today's "hotrodder's", the kids building their tuners and new Mustangs, etc, aren't that much different than the 1st hotrodder's, and while I don't like the newer stuff, I can respect what they are doing.....they have a p***ion for it.

Exactly. I've done tons of work on my 89, exhaust, blower, upgrading the fuel system, new heads, cam, intake, flywheel, clutch, transmission, etc, ETC.

  9. Im down with some muscle cars as long as they have them looking the way they used to back in the day,it's when they put some 20's or some hip hop rims is when I loose all respect. **** I even started out with a 67 chevelle at 16yrs old and I had a blast with it.

  11. I think that Lexman forgets that buying hop-up parts, bolting them on, changing wheels, adding blowers, customizing the exterior, these are all things that have been going for 75 years. It's a continuum my friend. :)

    In before the lock!

I dig cars. There are some I like, some I don't. It isn't determined by any one factor like year, make, or model rather it's the coming together of lots of little factors. You can learn something from almost any ride you look at and talking to lots of different types of people can turn you on to things you didn't even know existed. It's good to keep an open mind. Slightly OT, wow lot's of posts from Orlando for a change. :)
