Ok you guys are much better photographers than I am! I think I saw you guys at some point chasing the girlies! Those are some very nice shots. Rikko, that's for the memory jog about John Ohlsen. I remember reading a lot about him and his efforts with Shelby and the guys a while ago, but for the life of me I could not remember what or where!

I think I have an old Hot Rod magazine stored safely in the attic somehwere with some neat pictures of that famous Daytona while it was being built, perhaps I'll have to dig it out some time.

By the way, where was this hiding?

I've seen it many, many times before, and it's one of my favourites around, but I did not spot it at Kumeu.

It was under the Rocket Speed Equipment tent, located in the swap meet area against the perimeter fence. I find its where I usually get the best photos.

Hmmm, I went there, but I never saw it, unless I'm blind. Was it there on Saturday?

I've been watching this one on Trade Me. I thought the price was spot On (Sight unseen) Wish I'd spotted it at Kumeu. I have a Rocket that'd be perfect in there for a family rod.

Loved your pics....and so miss those Kiwi girls....
Is Squeak Bell still kicking around?

  11. Didn't he go up to the states and get involved in chassis work? Probably plenty of people on here that know more than me on that subject.

  12. What a lot of people don't realize is that Shelby actually commissioned John to build TWO more Daytonas. He died before completing the 7th one, but the ID tag and parts exist to build the 8th. A mate of mine was offered all the bits after John's death, but had no idea what the stuff was worth. He's kicking himself now.
