Can anyone tell me exactly what is needed to pull the steering wheel off of a mid-50`s GM car? Like what size socket, and if I need a puller or not.
3/4" socket and you do need a puller, with two sort of long 5/16" co**** thread bolts. Gotta figure out how to get the horn ****on off first if it's still there...
Pullers are cheap and available almost anywhere. Them old parts get really brittle, so use a puller if you want no damage. They also get tight when they've been on a splined shaft for 50-60 years................
Thanks..I have the tools, just needed to know what I need since the car is somewhere else and not here.
Take a 3# hammer after puller is tight & & wheel wont move hit the end of puller usaly helps break them lose also take some good penetrating oil like PB
Thanks, drove all the way there and the socket needed was atleast 1" not 3/4". Drove back home got the right socket, drove back and some ***hole busted the wheel to **** for no apparent reason......ohhhhwell. No kool looking `55 Buick wheel for me.
Could only get on the nut with thin-walled socket. And nobody in the yard had a socket to loan me. Still not too sure why some broke the ****ing steering wheel though.
