Chad - I'm stoked for you, man. The car looks even more killer out in the sun. Bet it feels good to roll it outside and get a good look! Hell of a lot of progress for one week off. Very nice job.

Bill, you promised my that full set of curb feelers, and Im going to hold ya to it! Make sure you show Herb the latest pics.

Curt, it was very rewarding to be able to take those pics, with every angle of my "vision" finally all together. You'll have to come check her out in primer soon, and I do have extra sanding blocks!

Very, very cool that '48 Caddy grilles looks great an old custom trick. Keep posting some pictures as you get far down the road on it.

    Yea, I wish!

I have the trunk all body worked, and Im just taking a break now from some block sanding.

I know its not a very exciting step, but heres the trunk after bodywork and primer. With a little (or a lot!) of work, the trunks of these cars can fit, but they never did from the factory.

And next week starts the work of doing a little bit of back tracking. Removing the Air ride! Air ride is a waste of time on a real traditional custom, and its a lesson I learned after installing it (or rather paying a shop a lot of $$$ to install it) 3 years back. No point in having air ride just to air up the car to look like its running a traditional leaf spring setup.

So Im ditching he bags (who's reliability I never really trusted), and installing Posies springs.

Flat black, with uneven scallops, and red wheels. Mexican blanket seat covers, no carpet, and vice grip door handles, you know a real traditional custom.

Just kidding! A shade of maroon, no exact color is set yet. I'll wind up picking a few from a book at the paint shop, and shoot test panels to make my final decision.

Then put it on eBay for a million dollars. Sweet! Thats what all the great builders do these days. I think I've asked you the color a million times. That car needs a one of a kind color...

I've tried to be patient, waiting for updates to your car, but I can't take it anymore :). Any progress to share?

I'm building a 46 coupe. I'm hoping it gets painted next week (shiny black), weather permitting. Unfortunately its only supposed to get up to the low 20s first half of next week.

Wow, that's a sweet looking car, cant wait to see it done. I love those Caddy grilles. I was having a hard time deciding between a maroon or green on my '46 I finally decided on the green because that was my original plan, cant wait to see yours in the maroon.
