I am trying to come up with a decent scoop / air cleaner design that will match the seats that I make. I searched and didn't find much in terms of a something riveted togeather. To better explain the pics... one is a crude pic of the idea in my head, the other is of the seats I make (I want to incorporate some other parts in this theme), and a pic of the project vehicle. Any ideas, pics, or whatever will help....
There's always the toes outta yer steel toe boots... oh wait, that's been done... I dunno, fabrication of the seats is awesome, but I don't know if I personally would like something that symmetrical on the engine, they are too many lines to begin with to put something that perfect line wise... If you understand what I'm trying to say... But hey, it's your car... Go for it..
Looking at your profile shot, why not a miniature of your truck cab roof? Same shape, just smaller? hell, same color too.
Why does the air cleaner have to match the seats, I dont think that would be a good idea. Make the air cleaner match something on the outside of your truck.
The job you did on them seats no dought you can make what ever you need.I think just some kinda cover would be good, wouldn't go with a scoop if it was me.Maybe a lid like a bowl with some holes around the sides.
The first thing that comes to mind is a Chizzler(?) style scoop, but with a rib on the top and two rows of rivets running the lenth of the rib. Add rivets around the mouth and maybe the bottom around the carb, or carbs. Those are some sweet headers BTW.
It's a Dana 60 out of a 1970 Chevy C20 pickup. I have a build thread going.... search under my username if you want to check it all out.
That rear end looks awesome. I have built several 9" Ford rear ends with the snouts, hubs and drums from the older Chevy and Ford full floating rear ends to end up with a full floating 9" done really cheap. I grew up with 3/4 ton rearends on the back of my dads circle track cars, so I love the 8 lug look.
sorry about the execution, but I think you get the idea- it came from You. Then on the side do your rivet theme.. I didn't have enough image to play with but the round top of the seat could be a similar curve to the rear of the scoop. I'd like to see to keep the progressive holes.. great work all the way around ! -41-
