Hey guy's, I am in the market to buy a lokar shifter for my ST400. I have a chance to buy a next to new shifter from a friend for a fraction of the price but it is for a power glide. Can the bracket be modified to fit with little effort or will it just not work at all? Thanks, Chris.
chris, if you contact lokar, they will sell you the parts they will change the shifter to fit your trans. all the shift handles are the same , they just have diff parts to connect to the trans your using. give them a call. i have done it already. swapped over a ford set up to use on a chevy. rich
Cool thanks for the info . Do you know how much the parts would be. Also on my trans it seems to only have 2 drive positions It came with a home made linkage when i got the car and there were park, reverse, N, 1 and 2. This is a 1964 Buick super turbine 400. I have not yet looked into how this thing works but does this sound right for the buicks? I only got to drive it once. but it should be a 3 speed ? Chris
while i'm not a transmission expert , i do know that a st400 has 3 forward speeds...maybe you should post some pictures of your tranny
My old 64 skylark had a super turbine 300 and it was a 2 speed with switch pitch, but I haven't heard of a st400. What car was it from?
the st400 was Buick's version of the th400...from the mid 60's since he stated he thought his was a 2 speed , i thought he should post some pictures to identify his transmission....he may not have what he thinks
Here are some pics of it. On the tag it say's super turbine 400 and under that has 64 and on left side has B on right side has a J and i read that they only made this is 64 with no switch pitch.
When I replaced my T-350 with the 700R it was over a $100 to switch the Lokar for the 350 to the 700. I just bought a whole new shifter and sold the old one.
