I have a 29 5 window leatherback coupe with and want to put on a another top (of course). I do have a complete 30-31 roof with the back window. Will I be able to fit it to the 29 with some modifications of course.
    Thanks

I have seen 30-1 roofs put onto 28-9's before, but being the Model a fanatic that I am, it hasn't looked quite right.

It is possible to turn your leather back into a steel back with the help from a 29 sedan donor roof and some fabricating. The sedan back panel from the belt line up can be made to fit. And the belt line below the quarter windows can be made from the rear corner beltlines of the sedan with some slicing and dicing. Since you already have a 30 coupe rear window section, you could probably just use that.

Since you'll have to fabricate some type of belt line with either top you use, it'll probably be a toss up on which is easiest to install.

I may have some pieces of 29 sedan beltline that I'd sell. If interested, send me a PM.

Thanks for the reply guys. These are the parts that I have to work with to get the body to look half-way decent while trying to stay in budget.
The belt line was something that I thought I was going to have to get rid of but not now. It would really not look right then after looking at a bunch of coupes

I have seen a 30 roof welded on a 29 and it didn't fit right. It may be possible to make it fit, but it would be a big job. The 30 roof has a different curve than the 29. I am just putting a metal back 29 roof on my special coupe. If you have the special window quarter windows, use them and a 29 sedan rear panel or find a metal 29 roof.

my coupe is a 29 Special Coupe, and any other one I have seen looks wrong welded up. Unless you find an actual 28-29 coupe roof, and weld it into your roof, it will look cobbled. Just cover it like Henry did. The lower belt molding is not being reproduced, and is utra rare. I had the upholstery shop put a bead there, and I made short pieces to fit under the qtr windows.

    Check my roof

I've seen a 29 with a 30 roof, and agree it doesn't look quite right. The roofs curve down at different angles at the back and the bead is quite different at the beltline. The one I saw had difficulty making the bead look right, too.
