Just wondering if a 60`s Ford top loader 4 speed can be mounted behind a Chevy.Wanting to go 4 speed in my BBC Gasser project and having a hard time coming across a M22 locally but keep finding Ford top loaders.Did a search here on top loaders and never had any luck finding info on a Ford behind a Chevy.

Offenhauser as well as others im sure made em,( this is an old NOS one I'm sure they still make em though ),and yeah goes between trans and bell,,I'd figure you'll bee longer bolts since you'll be padding it out so the speak,,and then however you have to do your linkage

Adapter: 1949-64 Ford or 1951-64 Mercury transmission to Chevrolet Bellhousing adapter

You'll need a different clutch disc to match the input spline, and probably a different pilot bearing. Check the lengths and depth of engagement on the splines and pilot.

GM used Toplaoder 3 speeds in their 1/2 ton trucks for a few years.... as did the early BOP muscle cars.

If it's a gasser project why not just use the Lakewood bellhousing made just for that? Been made for years and still available new. Comes with required pilot bearing and is deeper to accomodate the longer Ford input shaft length.

Absolutely! Lakewood's bell is a quality product for exactly what you're doing. A common swap as the Toploader will take more abuse than the Muncie.

Lakewood bellhousing is a great idea.I tend to run this at the strip and was not planning on a stock Bell housing anyway. Any links to where I might find a Lakewood Bellhousing

That aint no crap .A Toploader is way tougher than a muncie .I had one in my Falcon and couldnt tear it up .Tore up a few rearends and clutches though. My 56 has a M-22 and my Falcon is long gone ,but i still think the Toploader is the King of the factory 4 spds...
