I ran a TR1-Y with a Carther competition 625 on a relatively stock 300 horse 327 with little or no problems at all. My mechanic buddy played a bit with the jets to deal with a low-end bog off the line, but it ran sweet after about 2800-3000 rpm. I had tried a 600 Holley double pumper but it was too much for that engine. Go with it, it's a lot easier to play with than a dual quad set-up.

I wouldnt recommend it with a stock engine. Maybe not even a mild engine. Thats mainly for some high rpm racing. Since its just a single carb you might be alright but hope your just wanting the looks of performance cause your torque is gonna fall flat on its face on excelleration under 2500 rpms.

Just keep in mind what it was designed for. High RPM drag use. Don't expect good manners around town or off the line at light throttle. Once going, part throttle cruise won't be bad, but throttle reponse was not in the design.

  5. ran one on the vega wagon for several years..everyday ride, even in the michigan winters...the low end will suffer for sure...i was running a fairly stout cam and a 400 40 over...bowtie heads...the 400 torque made up for the single t's weaknesses i think..but it sure was a tire smoking combo from a dead dig..i won every burnout contest in the area cruises :D. wagon with tunnel ram....jpg

Oh, just cover the carb adaptor, adapt a throttle body to the drivers side, adapt your favorite injection and have low buck/high labor version of RamJet injection. Tuned port parts may be the easiest way to go, but maybe some mechanical stuff could be made to work well. Just a thought thats been bumping around in my head for the last 20 years or so.

take it apart and make a baffle that fits inside that takes up maybe half of plenum volume w/out obstructing ports/carb etc. like a diamond shaped box that directs flow to each head the length of plenum or 2 that bolt on with bolts that hold tunnel ram together. or weld alluminum. could start out with 2x4 wood till you get size figured out. run 600 cfm vac sec holley or (?) w/ power valve 2 steps lower than idle vac. run vac advance and jerk around with timing. nothing exotic. good luck

Don't worry about it, put it on and go have fun. I run 2 carbs on a tunnelram SBC and I don't think I've ever had this much fun with a hotrod.Go for it and once you get it tuned properly, you won't be sorry

will work fine on your street motor use SMALL 500 or less cfm carb enlarge accelerator pump nozzle [squirter] if you live in and want to drive in cold weather install water heated spacer plate between carb and intake came on mid 60's fords and are available at most 6 cylinder performance orinented companies DO NOT tape housing for pcv valve run carb base i ran a tr-1 2x4 with dual 400 afbs on my sbc 400 street car the guys who have poor low performance usually have not increased pump or have a carb thats too large = bogging use full centrifigal dist with at least 14-16 deg intail timing and around 35 total with a quick avance curve you'll be happy with looks and performance john

Yes, what he said. I ran 2 390 cfm 4 barrels on a 289 with a mild hydraulic cam. Worked great.
