1959 Scimitar Hard Top Convertible Named for the pronounced scimitar-like shape on the side, this retractable hardtop was one of three vehicles designed by Brooks Stevens for the 1959 Geneva Auto Show. The others were a station wagon (called the All Purpose Sedan) and a four-door convertible (called the Town Car Phaeton). Olin Aluminum financed construction of the cars to promote the use of the lightweight metal, which was used throughout the body. The roof retracts at the flip of a switch although it does not need to fold like that of the Ford Skyliner in order to fit in the unusually large trunk. Bodies for all three Scimitars were built by Reutter of Stuttgart, Germany, on Chrysler New Yorker Ch***is.

I don't know if there's one particular car out there that I could label my dream car. I can rattle off about 10 or so cars/trucks I'd like to get my hands on. But after seeing that pic of the 39 Delahaye, I think I just wet myself. Serious work of art. I wouldn't mind having one of those in the driveway.
