Be advised there is no good reason to use the spin on style other than a bit easier to change. You MUST have a .062 restrictor fitting in the supply line to the filter no matter what style you use. Without the restrictor your oil pressure will be very low as these engines were set up for bypass filters only other than 58 up 261 truck engines.

If you are talking the original canister filters you can get them at any NAPA FIL 1100.

Maybe you 2 guys are talking about 2 different things.

1946truck, do you want to convert to full flow oil? what year 235? JohnEvans, if you convert to full flow, you dont need the restrictor.

Spin-on filters don't catch as fine of crap as the can type made for a bypass system. Leave the thing alone!

    Its a 1955 Chevy 235 out of a car.

  11. You can take the aluminum filter adapter from a FE ford. They can be easily used for remote filter adapters. Make a plate for the back and drill and tap for hose fittings.

The restrictor fitting is a Weatherhead # 1512. You can make one by soldering a aproperate fitting closed and drilling a 1/16 hole through it.
6 in a row : I'm well aware that a fullflow system does NOT need a restrictor. Also unless the engine is a late 261 which the one here isn't some farily involved mods are needed. Not too hard to do if the engine is out of the car and to do correctly striped.

As said earlier the bypass filters do remove smaller particles but only 10% of the oil is going through the filter at anyone time. Put lots of miles on Chevy 6s stock to modified late 50s early 60s.

I have a '59 3200 truck with a 235. The oil canister is mounted behind the carb on the intake but the flex lines were rotten when I got it. Any idea where I can get new flex lines or are there any other ideas? I would like to keep the canister and not use a spin-on.
