Hey, I'm from the frozen North. About half-way between Cold as Hell and Colder Than ****. I've been a machinist for 40 years and have worked on flatheads for 52. I currently have a '38 Ford pickup (flathead, 2_2's, cam, bored, fenton headers, yadda, yadda), a '53 Ford F100 with a 327 and a TH-400 and 9", and a '47 chevy coupe waiting to be worked on. My dream car would be a '26 roadster body on a '32 frame with a built flatty and all the fixin's. I'm becoming really impressed with what some people are calling rat rods these days. I hope to someday find a set of Gus Maanums drawings from the late '40s Bonneville trials.
deuces94, Hello & Welcome to the HAMB from 'Tropical' South Texas. Don't complain, move south, I did in 64'. Lucky667
cold? it ways 8 degrees by my thermometer today....i can't complain about that picture's of your `38 and `53 ford pickups would be nice
Yeah, but you put that "southern" before MN in your location. North of the cities I don't think it cracked 0*! Deuces, where ya from in MN??? I'm just south of Duluth.
Hi, I live in Central MN just east of St Cloud. I've got a brother in Grand Rapids. Usually his temp is about 4 degrees colder than ours. Last week KARE 11 was talking a warm up. When the front came in it must have been shaped wierd. It was actually about 16 degrees colder there than it was here. He had +8 and we had -8. He called me all excited because it was warming up. Then he called me a liar when I told him that the temp was 8 degrees below Zero. For people who aren't aware we have 4 seasons in MN. We have: Cold and Snow, Mud, Mosquitos, and Hunting Season. So last September I'm putting up my deer stand. I'm up 15 feet, t******* off a limb, so I can hook my safety strap. I fell backwards and broke 4 vertabrae in my back. 2 surgeries later I'm able to finally walk a little and life would be great if I could take a beverage out on the Patio and and sit in the sun. Man I can't wait for June. I'll post pictures as soon a I learn how. I did it on the Fordbarn website once but don't remember how I did it. Cheers, Mike
Just so's ya'll know, I started a group on here for all us Minnnesotans. It looks like we got a handful on here, figured we could use it to get us all together on one thread.
Did it even crack zero today? Welcome from another MN guy BTW, my '48 F1 came from just outside of St.Cloud
Welcome to the HAMB, cold yes, but a heated shop puts us right in the middle of rod or custom building season. Glad to hear your repairing after your fall, if you can, get out and build something. Makes winter in the north more bearable.
Hello from Brookings SD - I get to St Cloud once a month or so. Was there yesterday and I dont think it got above 0. hell, it was -17 between Marshall and Granite
Hi, Y'all. I just looked it's -9 right now. It's supposed to be warming up. Maybe well see + temps again. Have you noticed how it's always 10 degrees or so warmer in the Cities?
I agree the politicians are a little overbearing. What is the deal that we end up with guys like Coleman and Franken. Shouldn't someone screen the idiots that are allowed to throw they're hat in the ring. Also think of this, the population were asked to vote for guy's like Franken and Coleman, Palin and Biden and Hillary. God only knows how well Obama is going to do and was Mcain another GW Bush? And, will Joe Biden be able to pull the trigger when it's time to shoot someone in the face? Be glad we don't have Rod Blagojevich in our state.
Welcome from Sauk Centre. -9 right now. cant wait for the warm weather of feb. 20 to 30's above zero. Man you go through alot of wood when its 25 below. Bill
Welcome to the HAMB! I am in Denver, moved here in 72. Just a relocated No Dak motorhead. When I get homesick I try to remember the cold days and flash back to the old saying "40 Below Keeps Out The Riff Raff!" Dont forget to plug in the truck, we may have to do a beer run.
