I have chopped 1949 Merc body (fibergl***). I bought it on E-bay last year. I don't know who built these , but they are pretty good quality. I just finished the frame and starting to work on the drive train (pocket bike engine 49cc)

    Zed,
Not meaning to highjack this thread, but I visited your profile, man your one talented modeler. Don't know if their all your creation's but everything I saw on your website would look great in metal to scale, can tell your a big Barris fan. You should build one, especially your avitar. Oh yea, that guy with the 300 pedal car's is killin everybody.:D

This is some neat stuff about pedal cars. I have a couple or 3 out in the shed, never thought too much about 'em they gotta be from the 40s or 50s but it was never my thing to check on them, just picked 'em up here & there over the years. But since I'm not a mechanic maybe I'll get one of them out and do some experimenting on it with a BFH - apparently the ain't worth too much so I wouldn't lose anything if I ruint it trying to customize it. I heard someplace that there's a pedalcar junkyard that has a bunch of junker pedals, maybe I can save a few of them from the crusher to use for parts. NOT.:D

Heres two I'm working on.The black one is done and is a stroller,it is also painted blue. The other still needs finishing. Very simple to build, front tires off a racing go cart, for the rear and caster wheels off a donated shopping cart.1x1 square tubing and plywood for the floor.Hot rods are born with the stuff. One 12 pack is all you will need.:D or 2?

The problem with pedal cars is the kids outgrow them so fast!
The next logical step is a slightly larger version that is powered and even you can jump in and drive.

This is still one of my favorite pedal cars. I wished I owned it.

    Hmm. Pedal cars.

I am looking for a pedal car or a pedal car kit for my older daughter, who will be three in the fall (I figure if I start looking now, I’ll have one by the time I need it). The going rate is about $250 for an ***embled, painted new one, and I figure that’s reasonable (that’s about $30 in 1950 money ;)).

Still, I don’t know just from whom to buy, so I’m soliciting recommendations/warnings about retailers. Finished or kit is fine, as my dad is an excellent painter and I’m sure I can talk him into spraying on a special paintjob (especially if I volunteer to do the sanding).

Any experience with them? I’ve heard mixed reviews about Speedway’s car parts, so I’m a bit wary.

I have used some of his parts..nothing I find wrong with them....

  21. We bought a couple of the '55 Chevy versions last year and had no issues with the cars or Speedway. They're not built as heavy as the vintage cars but I guess that's to be expected of anything you buy these days.

I need just the front of a pedal car body for a upcoming project. Does anyone know if someone make a 1940 Ford body?
