I can't go anywhere without getting asked what those caps came off of. I am sure they are aftermarket....but who knows. They are 16" and I got them off of e-bay for cheap!! I am sure someone on here can positivley ID these things!!

I have been told these are aftermarket pieces from the the 40's that were sold under the name Lion's head. I have four; two are similar to your caps here and a pair which have that have the steel white wall attached. Great caps!
I googled "lyon hubcaps" and found this vintage 16" Lyon aftermarket wheelcover. It is definitely not DeSoto or any other OEM cover.
They are Lyons, They are stamped by the clips. I have several sets, both 15" and 16". I have a set on my truck. Jimmy Summers had 'em on his 1940 Mercury Custom. They seemed to be popular back East. But some obscure Customs in Calif. had them as well. Ken Just a note: I've looked thru all my annuals, magazines and programs from 1948-1955 and were seen in those time periods. They seemed to be popular in 1949-1952.
that sure looked like Ferdinand (Herdinand?... whatever his name was.) DeSoto with his fancy helmet. 52 and 53 Desotos have a hubcap very similar
I have some 16" like that, but they are 16" with a chrome or stainless center & a white outer. I have 3 of them & still looking for the 4th one.
