Don't be a dumbass like me and put off blowing the metal flakes, dirt, and dust out of your welder. It can lead to bad stuff... Like arcing across the aux. transformer and blowing it up, the noise of which nearly gave me a heart attack! Ker-POW!

Just a quick note to take a few minutes and clean them out a bit, especially if you work in tight quarters like me and your machine sees a lot of airborne particulate.

OUCH, what brand of welder did you have? Those transformers are expensive to replace, don't ask me how I know. later shawn

Haha, I've got one better. I got too eager to see how my bead came out when I was welding my 71 triumph soft tail that I just picked it up to turn it around. Burned off the fingerprints on my right thumb, index, and middle finger. See if someone can top that!

Lincoln 175, Yeah, it wasn't too bad, $70 and a week of waiting. This one is coupled to the fan motor and assembly so you have to purchase it as a unit. Boo...

I should have guessed that comment would come from a guy with a "Back to the Future" signature line! Haha!:D Yeah, upon closer inspection, the cap blew and shredded some of the transformer windings. Booo, again...

I think we've all done that a time or two!!

Damn you got of lucky with yours. I was told it would cost me $300 to replace the transformer in my Hobart 125. Damn things sell for $325 brand new! Needless to say it still sits in the garage not fixed. later shawn

Well, this is just the little auxilliary transformer that's coupled to the fan motor. I hate to think what the mains xformer would cost for this thing!!
