I just moved to flag from iowa a week ago today. Dont really know anyone and would like to get out and work on somethin or join a car club. Sittn at home just isnt for me...
flagstaff has the best cruse roads in the world !!! i lived there about 15 years ago but get back once in a while. everybody lays low in the winter but come spring there will be rods all over. hang in there.

I was in Flagstaff years ago and there was a family that owned a Hamburger joint on the Grand Canyon road, the wife ran it and drove a 32 ford coupe and the husband and sons ran a hot rod workshop in town. I did meet them, but dont recall the name now, I also attended one of the Back to Route 66 events in town and there were few hot rods there. Maybe they are just hibernating for now.
There used to be a pretty good 50's diner north of I-19 & I-40 interchange, Milton and Old 66 area. In the spring and summer months you would see a lot of customs and street rods there. I was last there in late '03. Seems like there used to be a Rod Shop in old part of town, but that was 20 yrs ago.
Broke down three times over the last 8 years in the Grand Canyon/Flagstaff area in my 47 Chevy convert and my 47 Olds convert. There are no HAMB folks in the area, or ones that are active on the board, that I found. How about your name, address and phone number in case it happens again?? Anderson Tire there in Flagstaff has come to my rescue each time....... once I got towed into town. They love to see me and my credit card when we're in town.
I think everyone has a break-down story that takes place in Flagstaff... Galaxy Diner, (on RT66 behind Bun Huggers...hamburger joint, not a strip club) still there and they do a cruise night on Friday I think, but only in the summer. There is a car club in town that I suspect you have found already but here's the link just in case: http://www.route66carclub.com/ I went to school there 20+ years ago, we still have a vacation house there and spend as much time there as we can, especially since they have a direct LAX to FLG flight now. As far as I know, there isn't a lot of hardcore car guys/gals there but there is a lot of tours that go thru town and a nice little show downtown every year. Sedona and PHX have several big events that are worth the drive south. Enjoy Flag and make sure and hit Frattelli's Pizza on 4th...best in town.
Stopped in at a very nice car show in the park near downtown a few years ago. Spring or summer, don't remember. Have plans to cruise route 66 with some guys from Vegas to Flagstaff maybe this spring. I'll post it here when it's organized. That's a great place! Have fun.
I am up there from time to time for work but that is about it. Most of the AZ people are down here in Phoenix or farther down in Tucson. Come to Phoenix and will show you around.
