Saw the article in R&C about the chassis engineering truck arm rear suspension set up for the 49-54 chevy, but there is no info in the online catalog and i get nothing but busy signals on the phone... I'm also looking into the bolt-in pinto/mustang IFS front end for the same. anyone have any feedback, experience, input, or otherwise to share???
That rear suspension was from Classic Performance Products in California, not Chassis Engineering, though the front suspension is theirs.
I have a 54 with posies 3 inch drop springs in the back and a fatmans MII kit in the front. the posies kit I am more than happy with. just keep in mind your center pin locator's. meaning that if you are running a stock rear get the springs that work with them, if you are getting a late model rear get the according springs... if you call posies they can walk you through all that. as for the fatmans crossmember kit, I love mine, I have the basic ultra low kit with a manual rack and I am tickled pink it is not hard to install so as you can do basic fab work and can weld. I would personally stray away from a bolt in kit. b/c you have to A: put in a cross member and B: put tops on the frame (upper spring buckets and A arm mounts) these are items I personally want welded into my car. the cool thing is that you can keep your stock column too, with just a little bit of work. it is however way easier to do so if you are not keeping the 3 on the tree... hope this helps a little.
