So I am debating whether or not to shave the trim on my 56 chevy 150. I already filled the holes in the fenders but Im starting to second guess myself. So what do you think? Trim, no trim, or trim from something else?? Since I know someone will I ask im not building the car in any particular style. Im going to to paint it a suede color, either burgundy or black, and it will have 51 desoto grille teeth. Im really not sure on the stance yet.
I prefer trim on all cars- especially if they had it. Without it looks naked. If you have it leave it on- if you don't that trim is pretty common and cheap. I've had many '56s and never considered removing the trim, but that's just me.
I might be old school i like it on. but build it the way you like it .it will be cool ether way Good luck.........
Just for giggles here are pics of the shaved fenders. Sorry its not a full shot but I have a one car garage and didnt want to push it out into the snow. Yeah yeah I know I have a lot of body work to do
I think you should leave it on, style of car needs that break on side. I would even think about putting 210 side trim that goes all the way to back.
That's what I'm doing with my '56 150 wagon. The 150 trim doesn't cut up the car right in order to give it a good two-tone paint job. I'm doing the 210 trim so that the roof and the rear of the car'll be the same color. If you're going one color, keep the 150 trim just so there's something on the car to break it up a bit.
Well...... the reason I started shaving the trim was becasue I was going to flame it. Would the trim look alright with flames? Here are some pics of my sons pedal car that my wife flamed. I was going have her do some similar style flames if I painted it black...probably extending the length of most the car.
I've only owned NINE 56' Chevrolets, and several 55's or 57's. The Model 150 1956 Chevrolet is the cleanest, and understated car, Chevrolet ever produced, but that's just my opinion. KEEP the trim! ALL the trim, right down to the hood bird and emblems. On those chrome reverse wheels, you need to put the stock dog dish hub caps on, and also, in my opinion, lose the whitewalls. That "Yellow Jacket" 56' 150 posted here is HAMBtastic! Butch/56sedandelivery.
i voted to keep the trim, but i would only keep the spear, and loose the paint separator from the rear window to the spear, and keep the plane on the nose
stick with the 150 trim,i don't even recall ever seeing a 150 56 over here in england, so they must be quite rare. whatever you decide as long as your happy, thats all that matters, hope you enjoy the 56 as much as i do mine, good luck,
have the flames accentuate the trim. somthin like this. don't mind the wheels and the retarded front "body kit"
keep the 150 trim. i have a hdtp bel air,but i always liked the 150 styles. you just don't see many of them.it's different, thats what i like! o course you really don't care what I like, now do you
Keep the trim ,not many 56 150's around now days .When was the last time you past another one on the road ? The only thing i dont like about the trim is that i have alot of people that dont know better , think mines a 55 .I think the side chrome throws them .I like a 210 version as much as the 150 ,but not real crazy about the Bel-Air version.Just another opinion ,but i drive a 56 150 ,so my vote should count for more ,ha,ha ...
I would definately leave the trim on. If you dont, I would throw it up on ebay, around here 150 trim is damn scarce.
I voted to keep the trim because of what you're doing with the car. If you were building a gasser, i'd say lose it and make a "business" only car. Hell if it was a gasser, i'd probably leave the holes where the trim was. Gotta love bare bones race cars. Cool car - good luck.
Keep the trim. Paint the car black, put in some limo tint glass, paint the hood and inside the trim in bassboat purple flake, slam it and go pimpin....
