Posting some pics of my 49 Mercury, which I bought a few months ago. My friend was waiting nine years before I bought this Mercury. About 20 guys wanted to buy the Mercury, but my friend worried about that they maybe wanted to restore it. But he knew I never would make a restored trailerqueen of it, so now I am going to build a Rock&Roll Suede Kustom of this icon. Somebody allready started a converting from 4- to 2door, so I will build a Tudor. Chopped offcourse. Why I waited so long time? Built a HotRod, got married, got one baby, bought house, got divorced, sold house, married once more (not with the same bitch...), one more baby, bought new house...etc... Anybody else who just have found something similar?
you waited 9 years to buy that did it have the jacked up 2 door to 4 door conversion when you first saw it wait i see now... not alot of american tin on the other side of the pond good luck tk
Nice score!! I'd pull that crap off the passenger side and turn it back into a fo-do... it'd be a heck of a lot easier than making that mess work!!
You are right. These cars are difficult to find in Europe. Tudor doors are located. Do also have one better right front door. I prefer Tudors for the look/ bodylines.
Welcome aboard!! Good luck with your project. I'm an owner of an x four door Merc, It is alot of work but you will be happy when your done. Happy Trails, Mick
Congrats, that has to be a rare car in Europe. Stateside, there are still quite a few out there, though they all need patch panels that nobody sells.
Norwegian 49,you should have asked me long ago...man,9 years to buy a 4 door thing,insane...there are many around here in Mexico... Also a good number of 49 o 51 coupes....bought 7 myself! right now i know at list another 4/5 coupes around... Well,of course thet are not common over there... good luck with your kustom build, keep us updated...Sled
Thats life, Sled. Mercury projects in Norway are about as common as Snowmen in Mexico... Maybe you can show us some pics of your Mercurys, Sled? One mans junk is another mans gold...
That's exactly it. We have 'em, it's just that the ones we have are all missing the same stuff and no one makes that stuff. Cool car, the 2 door conversion is well worth the effort.
Friend of mine right here in ColoRODo has an excellent 4-door body for sale right now...PM me if you are interested... R-
Congrats and thanks for posting! That car is gonna be a lotta fun! I think 2dr conversions are really cool, and I think you're smart to just use coupe doors to begin with ...just my 2 cents
I have a really good pair of Green Mountain 49-51 Merc front fender lower "dog leg" patch panels if anyone is looking.
