I've been trying to get a few shakedown miles on my recently 'finished' '40 Ford pickup prior to the upcoming Billetproof Tampa show in March. Ive mostly been driving it around town, making some adjustments and repairs, looking for leaks, etc. My buddy Rick called me the other day and asked me if I'd like to get the hot rods out and run them a little. Hell yeah! It was in the 50's and sunny, which was great considering the temperatures had been in the teens and we'd had snow the week before. Rick showed up with his '40 Chevy coupe, and another friend Danny showed up with his in progress '32 coupe which Rick and I have been helping with a little. We decided on Stratton's restaraunt in Ashland City TN, about 50 miles out on the back roads. I'd never been there before but it's a cool '50's style diner on the inside, with lot's of memoribila, equipment and fixtures. Check out the Howdy Doody toys in the case at the cash register! We had a good time and a very good lunch (I had the double chubby burger) and ended up putting about 150 more miles on my old truck, which performed flawlessly with the exception of one small coolant leak. Anyhow, here are a few pics.
The truck looks good Gator. Did you guys pick Megan up at the bar or just leave her sitting there? JH
Thanks Gator.. Had a great time. Cruzzin in winter is great. Getting out with friends can't be beat. When the sun comes out we will go again.
You guys make me sick. We got beautiful weather, never cold, hardly no inspection, No speed traps, and I'm the only guy here. No cool restaurants, no cool rides, only my 29 which every one thinks is a 62 ford. Your bud comes over, you cruse on down the road and have a good time. I feel like the Maytag man. Ice man
Ha ha, and here I am wishing I lived somewhere that it never got cold. 50's last week, ice storm today. Wreaks havoc on my bones.
Gator, Its got to feel good to get her out, Its looking great. I cant wait for the day that I can get the Model A out on the road....probably be a long time, but it will be a monumental day for me.
Good for you Gator. Glad to hear your problem was minor. Tighten the hose clamp and throw the stuff in the back and you'll be ready to rock. Looking forward to seeing the truck. I'll make room in the shop for your visit. Man, you just nailed the stance. See ya soon, Mike
Way to go gator. Put the 41 chrome on the hood. Will send you a pretty nice waterfall and whiskers if you'll pay shipping.
Now that is what it is all about... good friends and a great meal, with the hotrod waiting outside... that is soo cool... Great looking truck racinman
I guess the cold nasty weather is the curse we have to bare for having the good stuff. Just goes to show you can't have your cake and eat it to.Oh yea Gator your truck looks great, nice stance.
They left me there! Wow, that girl does look like me, scary! Looks like a fun place for a shakedown run. Wish we could drive ours right now
