I picked this up last Saturday, just thought you guys might like to see it. I'm trying to get the little six going right now, she turns over real well but I haven't gotten it fired yet. This is my first time with a real old flathead six engine, an oil bath air cleaner and toilet paper oil filter. I'm so excited!

I was also told by the guy I bought it from that one of the baby Hemis was a bolt in for the six-popper, anyone know about that?

Also looking for some front brake parts locally. The previous owner removed everything from the backing plate forward, except the hub and drum.

I dunno what bolts in, but I want you to know that I am HIGHLY jealous of your find!!

I want a 50 Dodge Wayfarer or Plymouth B/C SOOOOO bad........Like the ultimate bad guys car.:D

Check with Rusty Red Ram, I know he likes to shoehorn baby Hemi's into everything.

  4. Cool car, I always liked those coupes. A friend of mine put a "small" Red Ram hemi into his '49 Dodge woodie. He gets asked constantly if it was factory option. It was definetly NOT a bolt-in. The Dodge engine bay is a bit bigger than your Ply, and still his steering was an exercise in pretzel logic.

Most of the brake parts are available at Napa, or even Kragen and Auto Zone. If you don't like them there's Bernbaum or Kanter (and others) mail order. Not hard to find, but a bit pricey compared to modern stuff.

Those three window coops look awesome if done up right.

Anyone interested in a '51 (I think!) Plymouth 2 door sedan kustom?

Sorry to butt in on this thread, but Mopar lovers mite like this one...has lots of kustom stuff done to it...rolled pans, frenched lights...the old guy that was working on it got lung cancer from smoking and can't finish it...he has to carry around an oxygen tank all the time...

I can get pix and a price if anyone is interested...

    Thanx,
    R-

i'd be after a red ram if i had a line on one (or else a blown and injected 392:D)

Hey I'm finally picking up my wheels on Tuesday or wednessday. I can't wait to get 'em home.

Dang, that Dodge Wayfarer has a huge trunk!! You could fit at least a half dozen more bodies in that thing than a Plymouth!!!

Thanks for all the replies about the brakes, I'll have to check out my local Napa. I hope they have a hardware kit for it, I did find the backing plates. Thanks Kutthroat Kustoms, I'll send you a PM.

I guess I'll have to do some more homework, the guy I bought it from made it sound like the bellhousing or tranny bolt pattern were the same, so the baby Hemi bolted right up to it. Wishful thinking maybe, I'll keep everyone updated if'n it works, but I'll have to find a baby Hemi first!!

Mr Pork n' Beaner, good deal with the wheels! I hope you like 'em!

  11. Scott, cool find there and that will be neat to see in person!

I know that you can put in a small block chevy or small block mopar with motor mounts from plydo. They also have a transmisssion crossmember for more modern trannys. There are lots of parts for these cars, but they are hard to find and you can't get alot of reproduction sheet metal or trim. They are fun cars and you won't see alot of them. My '49 wayfarer:

The bell housing's not the same, but the six cylinder flywheel will bolt up to the Red Ram's crankshaft flange.

By the way, the dealership I work at had a nice '50 Dodge 3 passenger coupe in today. We replaced the radiator and heater hoses on it and inspected it. All I could think of was some southern boy hauling a load of moonshine in that long trunk, with an early hemi under the hood to fool the revenuers.

I found one of these in a junkyard over the weekend near Hart (sp) Michigan...
I didn't look it over that good.
Kinda rough, but had a lot or most all of the trim.

    PM me for more info.
