BTW, What class can i run my Honda 50 Minitrail?, i'm guessing "Pro Stock" or "Exhibition" since it's of course 1 cyl. has 3 gears & a stock centrifical clutch. Breeder, here is the girl you told me to get to be the trophy girl for the mini bike drags. I would have gotten a little smaller one but, this what you ask for.

  6. Ah, gives me a reason to find a clutch for mine, even though it is a ten horse.

Oddball clutch sizes are the worst!

    Breeder-

    How about mandatory brakes?

Wheelie bars, and kill switches. Double throttle return springs... At least in the "balls to the wall" class :D

Just thought you folks might a little "heads up" :D

Behold the 1926 Witte Model "K" 2 1/2 H.P. farm and machine motor.

4" bore, 4" stroke. Cast iron block [very thick] with forged steel crank, rod and forged steel piston . Designed to run as a "flex fuel" [starts on gas, runs on kero, or diesel], it specs out at 16:1 compression ratio. Aluminum "flat head"

The stock cam specs out at .420 lift and 300* durration, with [stock] roller tappets. Both intake and exhaust valves are 2" each. It uses spalsh oiling, but the [stock] connecting rod bearings are needle rollers.

Unfortunately, this engine does not use a carburetor at all. You "squirt" gas into it to start it, and then the hot exhaust is used to vaporize kero or diesel as it's sucked into the cylinder. At first, I thought this was going to be a problem, but then it dawned on me that any stock carburetor would technically be within the rules... So I'm thinking a stock Rochester 2G off a Chgevy 350 should fit the bill nicely.

The really cool part about this engine is that it has the ultimate stock centrifigual clutch already installed. The left side has a 30 lb. steel flywheel that was originally intended to be used to belt drive farm machinery [can you say "torque" baby? :D], and the other side has the clutch. It's massive and extremely heavy duty. The springs [8 of them] are about the same size as SBC valve springs, but they are very "light duty", which gives it a stall speed of about 500 rpm... I'm thinking switching to some used SBC springs, with about 60 lbs of seat pressure should bring my stall up to about 3500 rpm.

Naturally, I'm going to completely rebuild and blueprint the engine. I believe that once it's "running good" [as Breeder puts it], it should be good for about 35-40 HP...... But just to be sure, I'm going to employ a form of forced induction called "compressed air induction" that [literally] uses a bottle of compressed air. A regulator will be used that flows enough CFM to feed the engine, but limits boost to 20 lbs. What's really cool about this method is that I can run any "oxygen level" I want... While my compeditors will be stuck using the 21% oxygen content of regular atmosphere, I can custom blend my tank... I'm thinking 50% oxygen should do the trick.

I'm hopefull of breaking the 100 HP mark by the time it's all said and done, and nothing inside the engine or carburetor will be "modified" in any way. I am glad that the rules allow me to run a modified exhaust tho, but I'm having a hard time finding a flame arrestor in the size I need.... But then on second thought, a flaming exhaust might be kinda cool.

The down side of this setup is that the engine weighs about 150 lbs, but I'm going to try and use this to my advantage by moving it as far back in the chassis as possible. The rear tire will be a M/T 13" "indy profile" sportsman mounted on a leight weight aluminum rim. Loooong "chopper styly" drag forks will but the front tire about 5 feet in front of the handlke bars. Wheelie bars will be incorporated, and braking will be via a drag chute.

I'm still trying to decide which fuel to run it on... E-85, Cam2, or LL-130 aviation gasoline. Since all 3 are despenced from "pumps", I assume they will fit the bill.

Oh, before I go, I thought you guys might like to meet my driver. As much fun as this thing will be to "pilot" down the "125", I'm a little too large around the mid section to be compeditive, so my buddy "Vince" is going to take the helm for the record setting run.

Disclaimer: Everything in this post is pure bull-shit... I'm just having a little fun with you guys.
