The guy just came and picked up the 29 Roadster project I had to sell. I am sad to report that the car is destined for a full blown original restoration as he is an AACA member. It's just sad that we hot rodders lose yet another roadster to the restroration crowd.
You could have prevented it had you been "true" to the hotrod cause but he probably lied and said he was going to rod it so you were fooled, right?
I see nothing sad about this..at least it will be around sometime down the road for another futute Hot Rodder to re-do to his likings...Better than sitting somewhere rusting away
Well at least its not rusting away in some field , I think it will be ok. Id like to see a stocker driving around every now and again.
nothing wrong with that. he could be using some "period correct" speed parts on it he has stashed away.
funny post. Keep his number. After it is all restored, you can buy it back, pull off the stuff you don't need and hot rod it. ha ha. Then you can place an ad for all the stuff you take off, and make some good money on the deal.
Makes up for all those cherry original cars Boyd hacked up on his show! If the guys is dedicated to restore to original, then that's great. All old cars in all forms are cool and any car guy can appreciate the craftsmanship of a good resto. 90% middle of the roade
Just wondering how nice the "project" was, doing an AACA quality restoration from parts vs a solid complete car can take a long time and cost a lot more.
I would only really be sad due to the fact that most of the "restored" Model As I have seen were cobbled up piles of **** made to look good from 20 feet in a parade!
I've got to admit , I have an original unrestored 31 a slant windshield 4 dr and although I would not choose to restore it , the family and I have a blast riding around in that thing (in a 20 mile radius, that is ). They can be fun too!
I remember reading somewhere that a significant number of "restored" Fords were/are former hot rods. That is part of the reason why there are so many Fords of the '28 - '41 years around today. Remember, Chevy outsold Ford during that time, but there are very few Chevys now. Old time hot rod guys didn't build Chevys they built Fords. But having said that the reality is that most restored A's are 30 foot cars used for parade duty and supermarket beer displays.
Could be alot worse, could have ended up on Monster Garage and been turned into a pooper scooper or some dumb ****!!
Not sad at all. Someday that guys grandkids will 'rod it! With the parts they take off going to the swap meet!
I see no problem at all.Restored or rodded, six of one, half dozen of the other.I love both equally, just don't want to drive around in a 50 horse, mechanical brake auto.
Next thing you know, those dang restorers will be buying chopped coupes and start "unchopping" them and bolting fenders on them and stuff.
