Okay... Im building a 1962 Cadillac Coupe DeVille and Im having trouble with the TV rod. When I bought the car the TV rod wasnt hooked up. The linkage was just laying on the manifold. So the problem is that there are no holes on the bottom side of the ****erfly for the linkage. There is only one hole and that is being used for the throttle peddle. There are a bunch of holes on the top side of the ****erfly But the TV rod needs to go on the bottom side of the ****erfly to pull when full throttle. I thought the ****erfly bracket with the holes is upside down and tried to take it apart but it doenst come apart. I was trying to flip it. That didnt work. I have the book for it and it shows both the TV rod and throttle pedal rod is both at the bottom side to pull when full throttle. Other then that the rest of the carb works great.
thats what i was thinking and was looking fora pic and # of the corect one but no luck, do you have the old one?
this is the one that came with the car. I was thinking. isnt all TV rods suppost to be at the bottom of the ****erfly since at idle the TV rod needs to be at the back and at full throttle be at the front? I dont see how you can put the rod at the top of the ****erfly or the thing would be *** backwards? Thats what mine looks like? thanks for the replys
It is possible for the TV to connect to the top, but needs a reversing lever somewhere along the TV linkage. Example: If there were a lever that pivoted at the center and the TV rod from carb went to one side and another rod to the trans was connected to the other side then when the TV rod from carb pushed back toward firewall the reversing lever would then pull on the other TV rod going to trans.
