I hopefully will be getting these Tuesday...

What are these 2 motors worth?

Yes, I checked the classifieds and there are listings from like ~$1500 to $3500

1 NE55 (331 CID) & 1 NE57 (392 CID) both 4V (Fire Power on the VC’s)
>
Both appear to be stored out of the elements and are fairly clean, (no rodent infestation) no idea if they spin. I'm hopefully getting these at auction (not an auto auction) Tuesday and these appear to be from some dead guys estate or an unpaid storage locker.

The 392 is carb to pan and the 331 is air cleaner to pan + transmission and has the generator and almost if not all the accessories brackets.

These appear not to be rebuilt but yanked and stored for ??? years<O:p</O:p

I’d appreciate the input, I would like to re-sell them preferably or part them out. :D

Thanks!
Russ

4. Go search "hemi" in all forums , there were a few good ones on here lately, not just in the classifieds.

You have to know what your looking for, do you have the casting numbers ?
cant tell much from the pics. and there are 4 different motors from what I can tell.

Why look for casting numbers? He gave the first four numbers of the serial, which is all you need to know. The numbers indicate both motors are from New Yorkers, one a 1955 and the other a 1957. As he described them, the first three pictures are of the same 331, and the last one is of the 392. If you saw four motors, then you're looking at the pallets in the background, one of which appears to have a 383 or 440 sitting on it.

Correct Ebbsspeed, 3 of the 331 and 1 of the 392. The 331 is more complete and has the tranny so I took more pics.

there is several other motors there, BB Mopar and a Ford flattie (I think, didn't look that close) and some other junk. THESE are what got my attention!

Bids?:D

Wow! There have really been a lot of these "what are these Hemis worth" threads lately. Looks like I'm going to have to add a section to the Index just for all these types of threads.

In the end, it's all up to YOU what you want to spend. Do some reading around here and make a decision. I'm not sure the HEMI Tech section can really help you but if you just do a search for "Hemi" and start skimming, I think you'll find your answer. Again though, reading will be required.

ONE MORE THING! Don't make assumptions based on appearances!!! I bought a complete motor that was "rebuilt" and it ended up being cracked in all 8 cylinders!! Looks can be VERY deceiving!!!!!

Good luck and I hope you get a good deal.

Oh yeah... I don't think I would invite a meth lab employee into my garage. Maybe you should follow this link and tell us about yourself ---> http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=18

Hi, my name is Russ, 40 Y/O, I live in Colorado, used to turn wrenches until I cut my right arm off throttling a 350HP 355 SBC with a 2 piece fan blade and it asploaded in 1991, married / 2 kids. good enough? /Takes bow.:D

I have not offered anything "for sale" yet, just getting a feel for what the "free market" may bear.

This coming from "LabRat"? Whats cooking in your lab? :)

It is just a user name, get over it. Besides, Stumpy is already a registered user name.

Thanks scootermcrad, if I was a tweaker (meth user for the older folk here) my posts would look like a craigslist ad.

As for the 8 cylinders cracked that seems like someone had water in the jackets at less than freezing, I have seen blocks cracked by this and no evidence of this.

Maybe there should be a sub-forum for "What is this worth"

I am not here to build one because I cannot afford to but make a few bucks, I am an amputee and am on disability looking to make a few bucks "on the side" and found an opportunity. After all, if I panned a X ounces of said confirmed gold nugget and asked what it is worth, you tell me it is fools gold and offer 1/10th the amount well... sorry.

~Russ

P.S.

Jeeze, can't believe this thread has a rating already. sofa king cool!

P.P.S.

rowdy & Big Dad

Bring the beer & BBQ already, Ill give my addy after the auction.:)

Actually, it was because the rebuilder did some irrisponsible machine work that was not visible on inspection, which ALSO reinforces my theory on "not everything is as it's seems".

I have some bad news. You should have done the research and then posted them in the classifieds. You've posted this on a Friday night and you've also posted that you're essentially not here to contribute but to "make a few bucks"...:eek: AND... it's your first few posts with NO formal intro. I wish you luck with this thread... as well as your experiences here on the HAMB.

I don't take it personal, I'm in this for potential profit ( walks away with head down)

My skin is light leather. No sand in the vajayjay here.

I just have opportunity to make a transaction, research, follow through, sell and deliver if I can get these motors, is that so bad?

At the beginning of this thread it ,seems people are a little jealous of this... Yes, Toyota does make a "Hemi" type motor. Thanks for pointing out this was a Toyota motor though:):):)

Thanks

A couple of quick ways to get wooped like a ugly stepchild on here are to ----
1. Not post a proper introduction on your first post.
2. Post a "what's it worth thread.
3. Join the forum in a blatant attempt to sell something.
4. Have a board name that, oh well you probably don't have a clue on that one.
5. The price of those engines depend on several factors.
a. exactly what engine they are.
b. Condition
c. who's buying and who's selling.
d. how bad the guy wanting it wants it.
e. attitude of the guy selling it.

27. This would be a waste of not one but two hemis !

I tried to send this guy searching and reading, should I dare say make a commitment of the smallest type. Nope just keep feeding him the methlab.

Nothing but blatant disrespect and contempt for the people who are tring to help him.

Go ahead,,,,,,,
