Wow, that would suck for everyone except Lobucrod. Hope it's not true, but they had a super high priced (albeit high quality) product and a lot of market pressure from items that give 75% of the gain for 25% of the cost.
That sucks. There's Stinger Road Kill, and many other brands fighting for the spot though so competition is there and in this economy many who would have bought quality will now go for price. That's bad for Dyno, being a top grade, top price enterprise.
I just talked to my Dynamat rep here in Phoenix, & he said he hasn't heard anything. He said they were at the big electronics show in Vegas (CES) & were showing some new products & stuff. Sounds doubtful.
Dynamat is NOT going out of business. I work there, doors are still open. Great place to work! It is a cutback just like everywhere else.
yeah, I also work at Dynamat (Dynamic Control) and there have been some cutbacks and a few layoffs but we'll be in there Monday morning getting it done for everyone just like always. Like usual, the rumor mill gets going, and these things get blown out of proportion. Again: Dynamat is not closing!
Your reliable source is not completely reliable. My buddy, who's sponsered by Dynamat spoke directly with Scott Whitaker and Scott's response was "It's business as usual at Dynamat. We will be operating with a leaner staff due to economic conditions". They're cutting back, as are about 95% of companys around the country these days.
Way too much of our valuable energy and time is wasted on rumors! It's too bad that a lot of companies are having to cut back, including the one I work for, but we do what we have to to survive another day in this shitty economy...it will turn around!! I wish them luck and hope Dynamat makes it, they have an awesome product line!
Well, we can always change this to a, "Government is gonna legislate our hot rods out of existance!" thread.....
sucks when people are lossin their gigs............its gotta hurt the hotrod biz around the USA............BUY USA!
We're not. In fact we are growing and hiring. "95%" of those companies are using the economy as an excuse to clean house. Operating until now a lil too fat instead of actually trying ways to do more with less.
Well, let me start by saying I am sorry for starting this thread! I should have checked. I wish Scott and the crew all the best. But I knew I would get an answer from this board.
being a former acupant of one of those big brown trucks i can tell you that those guys arnt that reliable of a source. alot of the drivers would think a company went out of buisness or was going out of buisness because packages from said companys would show up less and less or just suddenly stop. but in reality it was the people buying the stuff had eather moved away or were buying less which caused the stuff to show up less on the trucks. but in this economy even drivers on those big brown trucks arnt safe from getting laid off/fired 25 of the drivers at the building i worked at got laid off due to the economy
I'm in ohio, I haven't updated my profile in a while. Born and raised in good ole Dayton ohio. I guess I should update that, sometime soon. It sucks that these rumors get started like this, it's bad enough for us with cutbacks, nobody needs the rumor mill making it worse. again... We'll be there monday!
That's great for those living in the Black Hills but, unless you're living under a rock in the black Hills, business is bad across the remainder of the United States. Do you really think that GM, Ford and Chrysler want to close up? I don't blame companies for cutting out the "excess". Best of luck with your growing company. I'm curious, what type of business is it?
Fuck GM, Ford and Chrysler, they have been running too fat for too long. Yes, good people work there, not slamming most of their workers. But a few bad apples have spoiled it for all. I blame the worker as much as the corporations. Fact is, now that everyone is talking doom and gloom it is easier for companies to make the cuts they were afraid to in balmier times. Nice fucking excuse for the fact you were operating your business poorly. Then top it off with "we are in trouble, where is my bailout check?" For the record, I am in trucking as are my brother and dad. If you read the media headlines the trucking industry is as bad as anything out there. Screw the media, they have no fucking clue. I said it in another thread and will say it here, "are you a victim, or are you a do-er?" Kill your television. End of rant. The Dyanamat guy is a schmuck anyway.
I would change that to stop the recession and kill the media. In case you didn't know this is world wide and being fueled by the media world wide.
I heard these rumors as well, but didn't put much faith in it.. in fact, I'm just now checking if anything was said on here about it. Guess so! Whitaker is just cleaning house.. He did it when Slick and I was there, he did it again after we split, and now it sounds like he did it again... Like all Big companies like that, there is a "Core group" that makes the place run.. the rest are just there to help. ..and as shitty as it may sound, the "helpers" are REPLACEABLE!! There is a very nice Lady named Beth that runs Dynamat as much as Whitaker.. (Maybe more). She was always stright with me, and fair. I always thought she could run that place by herself very succesfully... Maybe now she is! I wish them the best, and congradulate Whitaker on winning the Darrel Starbird show.. Maybe that's why he fired everyone, he needed a place to put the stacks of cash!! They'll do fine. There product is unbelievable.. The other day a guy asked me "why is Dynamat so expensive...?" and I said, CAUSE IT WORKS. J Shaw
There is the truth. OZ got hit hard at the beginning because China suddenly stopped buying coal and iron ore etc but it has settled down and the only ones laying off staff are those lo life CEO's who are using the downturn as an excuse to sack staff and move to Asia. E.G.Pacific Brands is well known to most Oz rodders and we all saw how the CEO and board members paid them selves up to $10 million last Christmas ,and now they are sacking all their staff to move off shore claiming the down turn as a feeble excuse. Tghe unions have said they will block the export of all pacific brands machinery on the wharfs in protest. The machinery ( used in the textile biz) is slated for shipment to parts unknown. This what the unions in the US should be doing, not cowtowing to the mafia etc. That way Crane and others won't be able to setup shop in a third or forth world country without incurring huge extra expences.
thats what i think, since this happened fuel prices have dropped here by about 25%, the government has been handing out cash left right and centre, interest rates have dropped and ive been getting more overtime at work, i just hope what ever this world financial chrisis is that it stays for a while becuase ive never had it better and before this world financial chrisis dream came true i could barely make it to next pay day, i am not scared to push the gas pedal more than 1/8" anymore, money comes easy and fuel is cheap, the stray cats came to australia and the large mercedes benz dealer i work at is running flat out, I say bring it on more! more world financial chrisis. all the unnecassary company execs are finally getting put were they belong on the dole instead of wasting company money that should go to the workers. its bad to see crane and dynamat go, both brands i prefer to any of their competitors, if dynamat was marketed here in australia it would have been a big seller, i have it in my car and everyone is always asking me how to get it but its near impossible to buy here. also the crane stuff, i would much more prefer the crane to msd even if the price was the same but everyone else still prefers to pay extra for the msd becuase msd is known for ignition, companies are always going bust, but now its becuase of the world fianancial chrissis. sales should be down for crane and dynamat, the big market for dynamat is car audio people and the car audio thing is not as big as it was 5 years ago and neither are aftermarket cams and ignitions, the trend with modifiers today is aftermarket computers, turbos, intercoolers, wings 20" wheels and scissor door hinges not big carbs, cams, ignitions, i reckon the way to keep our suppliers going is to promote our hobby to younger people. I was thinking the other day, with the economy being such a hot topic and conversation peice now maybe i could bring out a line of "world financial chrissis " t shirts to cash in even more on this financial dream come true, i just need to think of some good lines for the t shirts.
