I got an offer on my 66 mustang for a 49 ford 4 door. If it was a 2 door I would have agreed already but the fact that its a 4 door is making me think. It looks pretty good but needs minor rust repair and paint. Its the original flathead w/ 3 speed manual. I was told it runs good and would be a decent dd. I was curious do you think its a good swap for me? My mustang is a 289, c4, 2v factory car. Interior is spotless and just needs paint. ****** brakes only have 4000-5000 since being rebuilt.
Doesn't sound like a good trade to me. Slow down, step back and look over the options. There are a lot of car coming available and I''m sure you can do better. LIke you said, a 2dr would be a better trade. Frank
what kind of car do YOU really want... if it's not the mustang then sell it and look around for what you like..... not something that is convenient.......
I agree with these guys. Don't do it. There are a ton of people out there that want a mustang. It should be easy to sell. There arent that many people that want the 4 door 49. The fact that you have any doubt at all should tell you that it probably isnt a good deal.
ctfuzz is right. Sell the stang, its worth more than the 49. Then find the 2 door you want. The stangs are still in demand right now. You should be able to sell it pretty easily. Remember, when buying something, cash is king.
Mustangs aren't my cup of tea, but I can tell you it's worth more than the four door. I'd say no DEAL ''Howie''
Not worth what that Mustang is on the market.Im not crazy about the Mustang ,but there are more that like them than a more door shoebox .I would have to say its not a good idea to trade ...
Thats what I was thinking thanks guys. I really want a 50-54 chevy but seems like they are holding high.
I did an ebay "completed auctions search" for the past year. 1949 Ford 4 doors in "driver quality" have been averaging $800-$2400 1966 mustangs in "driver quality" are fetching $5000-$8000... Hmmmm... How about sell your mustang for $5k and buy 2 or 3 '49 fords, then use the leftover $$$ for a nice vacation... Nuff said?
I'm thinking your gonna look back and regret ever letting the mustang go, and I'm not really a fan of em.
chromedaddy here on the hamb eats sleeps and breaths them old stangs. He does real well with them......Simple roadrace theme, white with blue stripes, some black torque thrusts, fat rubber all for corners, stick shift, duals..........sorry I got carried away here ! ha ha
Don't rush your options. I rushed due to excitement and it costs more an took longer than if I had been patient. Good luck
There is no such thing as "minor rust repair", and if you really wanted the 49 you'd have done it, keep the Mustang.
